I was wondering what everyone would choose to place on their list as the best pornos from the 70's decade? List as many as you wish. Edited by - bn700 on Mar 8 2002 Edited by - bn700 on Mar 8 2002 Topic Moved by - Saki on Mar 8 2002

Did they have porn in the 70's ?

All I remember is naked people playing volleyball on the beach.

wasn't Deep Throat made in the 70's?

-never seen it, though that title and the Debbie does (series) are probably the most well known porn titles in history. Also the original Devil in Miss Jones was made in the 70's. Don't know about the quality of the picture as I have never seen a 70's porno.

I have yet to watch a 70's porno, mainly due to some bad reviews and the hairy muff issue. Plus, I've read on this forum and various other places that quite a few pornos from that time have been censored. So that is another reason why I haven't decided to buy one from that era.

Hi, Saki! I've looked at Sex World on and off as a possible title to purchase. I can't seem to find much info on it; it appeals to me largely because of John Leslie and the cheesy cover art. Do you happen to have a copy that you'd be willing to review?

Debbie Does Dallas is one of those classics that every true porn fan should watch. Although I haven't watched either of them (yet), I have to second Saki on Behind the Green Door and Misty Beethoveen . I also really enjoyed and have a special spot (since it was the first review I ever wrote) for Nurses of the 407th (which I think was late 1970s but might have been very early 1980s).

Saki, you listed Behind the Green Door as one of the best from the 70's era. I have only read one review of it and it stated it was not a great film. Could you please either review it or make a statement as to what you liked about it please?
Thanks
Brian

Yes, it was, in 1972. It marks the beginning of the organized adult industry and what's known as the Golden Age of Porn (circa 1972 to 1984). I really am not impressed by Deep Throat--a lot of hype but probably one of the worst 70's porn films. There are a few interesting moments, including the scene between Harry Reems and Carol Connors, and the drinking of Coca-Cola from Linda Lovelace's pussy.

I wish I had a copy of Sex World, but I don't. And I'm not thrilled about paying $18-19 considering VCX's crappy DVD reputation. Maybe someone would like to donate a copy to AdultDVDTalk for review?

Nurses of the 407th was made in 1982. There are quite a few really good movies made in the early 80's including Insatiable, Taboo, High School Memories, and others.

I think Imperator was excessively harsh about BtGD in his review. It's not the best movie of the decade, but it embodies the X-rated movies of the 70's very well. It features the debut of perhaps the most well-known adult actress, Marilyn Chambers, who looks so young and innocent. The sex club scene in which Marilyn is taken first by a group of robed women and then by Johnny Keyes (the Man Behind the Green Door) is classic and intense. It's not very hardcore, but definitely memorable. I guess part of the the appeal is that the movie feels so old...I mean like watching Barbarella or Easy Rider.

As an aside, it was interesting to watch Showtime's original movie Rated X, starring Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen as the Mitchell Bros. and the making of BtGD (among other events in their lives).
