Many people patron McDonald's or watch reality TV. I would not rely on the market as a determining factor for quality. Some people just don't know any better.

Look, if you like it, that's fine. Enjoy.

Hillary Scott will be missed. She is one of my favorites for sure. Glad I got to meet her when she was still active.

Also Sasha Grey will be sorely missed, she was the biggest star in porn last year. Her scenes are to die for...

Amber Rayne gone too? At least she gave us everything she had.

which i do get but it becomes uncomfortable when the guy pulls in and out just to get a shot.

the best scenes are the ones that from start to finish there are minimal stops (which you wont see since its edited around it)
thats one thing i've always enjoyed about ZT and Elegant as soon as the tease is done they let you go at it.

idk.... not every girl is into gagging crying gapping blow bangs and facials.... more power to the girls that are.
i just thing they should have another lane for girls like me. since obviously a contract isn't in my future.

Well unfortunately the better female performers don't always get as much recognition or work as they should. It's one thing that has always irked me about the business. If I was a producer or a director, I'd try to hire you or girls like you as often as I could. Guess there are simply too many girls with too few jobs to go around. As well as porn maybe still catering too much to the extreme, although that seems to have lessened.

Call me selfish though, but I'd hate to see a girl like you go contract. Well it would make for better contracted scenes, but it's kind of cool to see girls in different settings, with different studios, and with different guys all the time.

I am @ the point where I consider everyone "out of the biz" and anyone who does work to be a bonus. Just like every other segment of the economy, it’s in mid cycle of change. It’s strange now that we can keep up models on Twitter and other social media; we hear them comment on how little they are working or not at all. Any other time in the past we only heard from the studios. It’s not always pretty to see the sausage being made in the back room.

To Miss Isis- You can create your own style on your website and promote the kind of porn you enjoy. I know there is pressure to make a product for the masses but your site should at some point reflect your personal taste. I know I make it sound simple but from a fans perspective, I look for little glimpses of a girl’s personality on their own personal web site.

Thanks for keeping in touch with us @ ADT.

I will go back under my rock now....

No i did not fully retire...I actually took most of 2010 off from scenes due to the fact that I was terribly sick. At the end of 2009 (august timeframe) I was diagnoised with Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. I spent the majority of 2010 in and out of treatment, working only when I felt well enough to do so. It was a secret many of my dear friends kept very quiet at my request as I did not want sympathy or attention due to this. I did back in june, out of absolute frusturation and anger at a check being bounced and me being at my lowest point in the midst of harsh treatment, state that in december I was going to be done performing. I was physically and mentally at a point where i simply didnt have the strength to do it anymore and I considered myself useless in the industry. (some might still argue that to be true but simply put, thats their opinion and its theirs to have and i respect that). Thankfully I have fought back and am back to 85% on the road to recovery. Still have a bit of weight to put back on but that will come with time. I have returned to shooting, having just portrayed Harley Quinn in the justice league parody and am currently shooting Reservoir dogsxxx as Ms. brown. Forgive me for the confusion but i promise not to let anyone down, theres still so much to do and explore.

Take care everyone!!

Dam Amber, if I did porn the way you do I'd be sick too. But that's cause I'm a weakling. So whether you work in porn or not, you body of work continues on, and I for one admire your attitude and all out enthusiasm of your work - you're da bomb babe. Be well and take care of yourself. Much love.

I'll also that I am glad you are feeling better. I hope everything went well with your treatments. It's important to take good care of yourself. I'm not sure who told those pretty nasty things but I just want to say that you are one of those rare performers that always makes as scene better. I've yet to see one of your scene that wasn't great.

Harley Quinn seems to me a perfect fit, and must see when Justice League releases!
Thought I saw you in the supermarket early last summer in equestrian garb, and while appearances can surely deceive, looking none for the worse for wear.
Glad to hear of your progress Amber, Godspeed in your full recovery, and for the record, your output at 85% is on average, anyone else at 110%!

Let's add to the list Cecilia Vega who recently mentioned on her blog that she had left the business in Europe one year ago. The news was made public just two weeks ago.

Cecilia Vega received a Hot d'Or (Best French Star) in 2009.Then something turned bad that she did not elablorate on, only in evasive terms. She also mentioned that she decided to stop doing porno because she was no more able to find any pleasure in what she was doing. And she blamed some people for using her body for their pleasure. And she concluded by saying: A Dog's life!

http://www.vegablog.com/post/2011/01/16/2010-UNE-ANNÉE-DE-CHANGEMENTS

Une jeune et superbe boulangère. Un Hot d'Or. A quatre pattes. Oui...Chienne. Chienne de vie!

Sorry to see some of these girls go.
Shawna Lenee is amazing.
Ashlynn Brooke one of my fav's, such an incredible face to watch.

This kinda morphed into another topic but I had a few things come to mind while reading:

Porn is still very secret in its dealing with their customers, they don't listen to the average fan. The only thing they seem to do is predict a trend and run with it. Ie...milf, cougar.
The girls are soooo plentiful now they have to compete and one up eachother any time they can. Like someone said, fucking the director for the box cover, you wonder what else goes down for that kind of pub.
Isis said work is scarce, why? Seems like the 'net kings control to much on what they shoot or some of the vet girls are asking to much for scenes. Not sure on that but why wouldn't they use more of Isis and others like her.

Just seen Judy Star did die! So sad, so very sad.

That's a shame. Her work for GFF and Sweetheart has been incredibly good. I haven't seen too much of her hetero stuff, but what I saw I liked.

Reading her tweets, it looks like yet another star who had a bad experience and decided to hang it up. I've always thought that Raveness was one of the most underrated stars in the adult biz. She's had a long career and done a lot of quality work.

I wish her well in her future endeavors.

Someone mentioned some of the longer careers in porn -- people like Nina Hartley and Julia Ann. Add Dyanna Lauren to that group.

I wonder what the difference is between those who make a multi-decade career and those who pass through quickly?

My guess is that porn has changed a LOT since the 80's and 90's (we know it has) and the women mentioned above started when porn was a different business. But, these ladies have been successful enough to continue in the biz on their own terms, perhaps.

Lots of young girls have blown through town, made a bunch of vids in a row, and then disappeared. Some just got fucked out, literally -- look at Aimee Donovan. Her insides got all torn up -- something I'm surprised doesn't happen more often the way the scenes usually go. When you think of it, it isn't so surprising that talent is burned up quickly.

Heck, some of the names tossed out in this thread are of stars that I haven't even heard of, and I watch a LOT of porn...

Kids are one factor. None of the women you mentioned above have kids.
Most of the pornstars that have kids don't want them to have to deal with the
drama of having a pornstar for a parent.

Money. If you have money you don't need to continue
working as a pornstar (e.g. Jenna Jameson).

Religion. See all girls who went to Pink Cross and Shelley Lubben.

Age. At some point you get so old and/or unattractive nobody wants to hire
you or you cannot get enough work to justify continuing in biz.

Those, and I think the business is just changing Zambi. I just don't think there is enough work to go around for some of the women to stay in it. Porn, to some extent, has always been about new talent, especially new female talent. I think it's tougher to stay relevent when there is always new talent coming in, who will/must work cheaper. Luckily some will always be in demand, but I think it gets especially tougher with piracy eating away at potential profits.

^^^ A+ to Aplus

Nina Hartley: "Between 1986 and 2008, pornography could be a full-time job ... You could work full-time as performer, or in shipping, or in makeup. But we're all hurting. It's going back to being a part-time job."

There are those still getting full-time work but it appears the number of those spots available has gone down. Everyone else is fighting for the rest of it.

Can anyone confirm if Eva Ellington and Tricia Oaks left the business? That would be bad news.

Mina Leigh aka Mina Lee, one of my favorite pornstars, seems to have retired, but I recently watched a new scene, so I don't know for sure.

^Sasha had some movies that were released last year but she really stopped performing in porn in 2009. There are probably still a couple of scnes in the can that may see the light of day in the future but I don't know who will really be that interested. Sasha gave us a couple of years of intense porn so although we might be a little sad that she's no longer performing. Is there really anything that she didn't do in porn that we want to see?

I don't ever say someone has "left" or "retired" from porn until they've been out of the business at least two years. "Comebacks" are so frequent that it's like professional wresting. Besides, even if someone retires today and stays retired for five years it doesn't mean anything.

I'd bet on Sasha Grey shooting scenes again at some point. She's just not going to get that much legit acting work.

^My take is different than yours because I consider any performer that does not shoot porn for a year or more to be out of the biz. That's why we say they have made a come back because they were gone.

I don't think Sasha will come back to shoot porn and not because I think her mainstream career is going to bloom but because she's done it and doesn't want to do it again. I've always found that Sasha is the type of person that does what she wants to do and doesn't do what she doesn't want to do. If she says that she's done with porn then she's done with it. That doesn't mean that she won't do nudity for TV or movies but I don't equate that with porn.

^I doubt any producer could afford her likely rate even if she did "come back."

I have mixed feelings about her leaving. As far as the porn nexus is concerned it is sort of the equivalent of being dumped for someone hotter, but honestly, I don't blame her.
