| BigBobxxx Senior Member 2681 Posts 5/04 | For a good week now, every ADT thread (i.e. a page of a thread) I visit never seems to finish completely loading. There is always this "1 Item Remaining" thing showing, and the progress bar never completes and disappears. The pages are still functional. This doesn't happen on the Home Page, or when you view the list of Active Topics. It is only happening when you actually open individual threads. [Link] |

| BigBobxxx Senior Member 2681 Posts 5/04 | My setting is to notify me when updates are available. I choose what and when to do any and all updates. Just out of curiousity, why would an MS update disable Java script, anyway? FYI, I have specifically prevented IE7 and IE8 from installing ("updating"). You don't think that MS has started their "death-by-a-thousand-cuts" process on IE6, do you? Edited on 8/6/09 to add... I updated to IE8 on one of my computers about two weeks ago. I still have IE6 on my other computer "just in case." The "1 item remaining" thing was still there, whether I was using IE6 or IE8. Also, it has also, finally, gone away on both IE6 and IE8. I avoid using as many of the MS products as possible. I use XP and no other MS products, except those that MS puts on my PC that I don't know about. I'm sure you have considered (many times) dropping IE and going to FireFox. FireFox isn't perfect, but it beats the hell out of IE (paricularly version 6). I've found that MajorGeeks.com (forum) is the best place to go when you have problems with the three main software elements on your PC (O/S, Browser, Virus/Malware Protection). They have a lot of forum moderators that know a lot about the inner workings (and nonworkings) of these products and what to do to fix problems. |

Also, it has also, finally, gone away on both IE6 and IE8. Getting back to the Adobe updates, I only have updated one computer so far, yet the "1 item remaining" issue has cleared itself on both of my computers. So, I'm guessing it was not Flash Player related either. Have you dropped/changed any advertiser links recently, (as it always had that kind of feel about it as far as my Internet experiences have been)? |
