Anyway, pornographers need to learn how to use light and shadow more creatively. Instead of just setting up some bright lights and making sure you can see everything, they need to put some thought into how the light they're using will make the performers and the set look. A lot of times, porn lighting looks really unnatural even if it is adequate for lighting everything and if it looks unnatural, it's going to be distracting. 2. Music can and should be used appropriately. If the people involved in making the movie don't know how to use it appropriately, then they probably shouldn't try but it can be done nicely in a way that enhances the whole thing. 3. More emphasis on the woman's body and her face. Facial expressions are such a huge part of sex. 4. More subtlety and less groaning, screaming and bellowing. Most of the things that the performers are trying to convey with the extremely loud and overdone vocalizations don't require it. In my opinion, a woman's pleasure is sexy precisely because it's so subtle. Soft and natural vocalizations are great when they're genuine. Too much of porn seems like banging on the keys of a piano, rather than playing something coherent and expressive. 5. Penetration shouldn't be the main focus of everything. I've seen too many scenes that were ruined because the performers (And the camera person) were always trying to make sure you could see the penetration if you couldn't see anything else. Women love to be charmed and complimented by charming and attractive people. If we need to have these interviews, use them to help set up the scene and get the girl comfortable. And who knows? You might just actually turn her on. 8. This one ties into #7. Pornographers should be scouring the face of the entire planet for better male performers. Women generally don't have fun fucking men they aren't attracted to. Women generally don't fuck men they aren't attracted to. This is a real problem. You can pay a woman to open her legs but you can't pay her to enjoy herself if she can't. 9. Edit the damn movies! Have someone who knows what they're doing edit out all the stuff that gets boring or tedious. You may have shot 6 hours worth of footage but that's how it goes when you're on the creative end of a video. You have to throw out most of what you shot and keep the good stuff. It takes a lot of time. Editing isn't fun but it's probably the most important step. 10. Anyone who wants to make better porn should always be watching their own and other people's stuff and asking themselves what they're tired of seeing. If you're tired of seeing something in porn, everybody else probably is too.
