It’s the golden era of porn! Porn prior to 2000s lacked an adequate amount of quality in terms of technology available and therefore didn’t quite cut it. The 2000s has just enough tech quality to produce great content, and the internet was growing, so porn flourished while piracy and tube sites were still in their infancy and a few years away from destroying the industry altogether. 2010s and later porn has just become a complete shit show. It can compete with the previous decade in terms of the quality of the talent. I’m yet to find any talent from the current generation that can match Holly Sampson, Tanya James (younger years), Michelle B (younger years), Hannah Harper, her British friend, Ashley/Angel Long, Briana Banks, Brandi Lyons, Riley Shy, Faith León, April Summers, etc.. Heck, that decade even gave us one of the hottest Indian pornstars (Sunny Leone), a race from which there is a dearth of women in the industry, let alone a bloody attractive one. Today’s porn seems to be the victim of mass production/low quality. What today’s content is to porn is what McDonalds is to food. Cheap, serves the purpose, but not of high quality. [Link]

On a different note; if you're forever comparing one group of performers with another then you're bound to be disappointed. Rarely are any performers at the same level or place in their careers, everyone's got their own path to follow. Today's porn is highly cinematic which may not be your cup of tea or mine but you can't call it cheap or not of high quality otherwise technically Lansky should never have become as BIG as he got. I will agree with you when it comes to mass production, you do have a certain degree of complacency which is both surprising and annoying given the level of piracy along with the driving need to stay fresh to keep fans coming to you. It's like studios get to a certain level of success and then cap it off, wanting to go off and start something new firmly convinced they don't need to keep their fingerprints on the product line they just gave birth to in order for it to keep bringing in high returns. That's remarkably aggravating because you see the ensuing fall across the board and you know they are going to have to hemorrhage cash before the lightbulb goes on, realizing that they are in danger of insolvency. There was no shortage of production of whatever genre you were into (IR, DP, blowbangs, girl on girl, gangbangs, etc), whatever type of pornstars you liked, races, body types, gonzo vs scripted, etc. As the 2010s went on we pretty much got to where we are now. Lacking diversity, mostly skinny teeny bopper chicks and scenes that are either cookie cutter and boring or just circus acts. I wouldn't be surprised if Lanksy himself thinks it's a golden age now but he's definitely an exception. [Link]

No washed out, overly produced, mono-color grading, and sterile sets that plaques today's scenes. Nobody put any thought into the color of the upholstery or the type of overhead lighting. Just find a seedy motel room or the backoffice of a warehouse with flourescent lighting and shoot. Veteran porn directors from the '80s and '90s were still in the business so they kept that style going. Girls had no social media outlet, so they were beholden to the directors' will if they wanted to work. Want to complain about a male talent or shoot your own content because the studio or your agent shortchanged you? Tough. This made a lot of girls get into more intense acts such as anal, DPs, gangbangs, and interracial near the get-go. None of this teasing on Twitter to build a huge fanbase in hopes of getting a bigger payday from the studios. I still look through all the updates that come out today, but I can say that since around 2015, I've been finding myself going back to 2000-2010 rediscovering hidden gems I've missed during its original run. There was more of a taboo, hardcore vibe. The IR was not boring and didn't seem as PC as it most time does nowadays - none of the "step-father" or "step-brother" or overused "masseuse" scenarios. The IR seemed to have more gangbangs, shit-talking, and less about storyline / sets. I see some great looking all natural actresses now, but somehow wish their scenes could look more raw rather than having scripts & perfect sets. [Link]

If I could choose I would love to put Devon, Briana Banks, Julia Ann, Rita Faltoyano, Anita Blond, Silvia Saint, Jill Kelly, etc. in this decade just because of HD quality content. As legendary as she is in porn history, I feel like Briana Banks would essentially be Nicolette Shea or Savannah Bond nowadays. Sylvia Saint and Rita Faltoyano walked so many of the LP girls could run, if that's what you'd call their careers over there. The majority of big-time shoots today feature girls that are natural, on the skinny side and younthful/girly. I actually hate this trend of voluptuous women (natural or enhanced) essentially becoming a niche. Edit: clarification that Nicolette Shea and Savannah Bond are fine performers with good careers who shoot for major studios, but they shoot rather infrequently and do fairly vanilla scenes. Briana Banks is a legend because she was strikingly attractive with many of those same qualities on top of being one of the nastier and more adventurous performers. You can have 600-1000 scenes and all you will hear is when is your next one because they don't care how perfect your last great scene was, it's all about the hunt for your next one. [Link]
