Both Riley and Annika were excellent choices but I think they are eliminated because outside of Tori Black ( 2010, 2011 ) there have been few repeat winners in my recollection. Personally, I think that's a good thing. Spread the wealth around. 2. THE " SPIEGLER " EFFECT. The Spiegler Girls have been synonymous with POY in recent years. Whether the " fix " is in or not, I just don't believe this is going to be ANOTHER " Spiegler " year. Sorry A.J., you're definitely a worthy candidate. 3. SHOWTIME'S AVN SHOW 2015 & 2016 HAS painted Adriana, Megan and Keisha as " poor sports " the past 2 years ( Adriana 2015 ) ( Megan & Keisha last year ) as a result, I THINK it hurts their chances. 4. UNDEREXPOSURE??? Chanel, Katrina and Sara are all outstanding performers but I'm afraid they don't have the " name " recognition some of the other girls have. 5. THAT LEAVES US WITH 5: VICKY CHASE, AUGUST AMES, AIDRA FOX, VERONICA RODRIGUEZ AND JILLIAN JANSON. 5. VERONICA RODRIGUEZ HAS her own production company but I'm not sure it is big enough to make a difference here with AVN 4. AUGUST AMES I think she is close...very close but just short THIS YEAR. 3. VICKY CHASE Obviously, a known talent who is more than deserving but she harkens the image of a battle tested contender. 2. JILLIAN JANSON has really been out there since she made her debut. I love her work ( especially with Michael Ninn ) and she could win. However, in the end, I had to make a choice and for me, the 2017 POY will be AIDRA FOX. Probably a " dark horse " for many but I believe her work merits the nod. Well, that's my pick. I tried to take a " reasoned " approach to this and it is, by no means, the final word but it's MY PREDICTION. Good luck to all the nominees!!! I understand a POTY award makes money for the winning performer in terms of higher scene rates, more traffic to her personal websites, higher rates if she escorts, and so forth... however, I think it has to be at a point where it is not taken so seriously b y the fans because it is not a logical and easy to judge thing. This isn't like a sports award when you have measurable stats like points or home runs or gold medals. I have my personal performers of the year (and no, I can not just pick one!), and enjoy and reward their work by paying for their scenes and websites.
