Problem is audio immediately gets desynced from the video. I've tried changing the video and audio renderer but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? [Link] |

Will probably be upgrading to a Digital Storm Aventum pretty soon with i9-10900K, 3080, and 64GB RAM. My PC is ~11 years old at this point and only thing I've changed is the graphics card. [Link] |

| AngryPirate Senior Member 3210 Posts 8/17 | Posted - Nov 30 2020 : 9:34PM I have the same GPU and I played 5K Porn's 2880p videos without any trouble so I think we can dispel any notion that the GTX 1070 "can't handle the file". On top of that, the OP said they were able to get JRiver to work though it's not to their liking in controls. The CPU is still good by today's standards and will even give today's Core i5 processors a run for their money so they are capable of preparing 5K video frames. DDR3 may be older but it is still usable, particularly with overclocking if that's feasible. Enabling hardware acceleration can also help make the most of somewhat older computers. 64GB RAM is overkill for system memory when it comes to 5K video playback. For 8K video editing with multiple video streams, sure, but 5K playback will run fine on 32GB or "just" 16GB if your GPU has decent VRAM and you have a quick CPU. The OP may be upgrading their hardware soon but for the benefit of those who don't have that luxury, writing off older computer hardware as "ancient" isn't the best advice I've seen when it's beyond reasonable dispute that just because hardware is older, it doesn't always mean it can't get the job done.
