So classic movies such as Taboo (1979), The Opening of Misty Beethoven(1975), Femmes DeSade(1976), Barbara Broadcast(1977), A Coming of Angels(1977), (1976), Femmes DeSade(1976), Sex World(1976), V the Hot One (1977), Candy Stripers (1978), Debbie Does Dallas (1978), Teenage Twins (1978)(actual real life twins having incestual sex - not just sitting next to each other like today's twins), Female Athletes (1979), and The Ecstasy Girls (1979) are all part of the same period. While there are differences in how they were filmed (Film vs Video) and shown (XXX Movie theater vs VCR), the actors and actresses that bridge the gap from the 1970's to the 1980's (Seka, Annette Haven, Vanessa Del Rio, Veronica Hart, etc.,) define the period much more than the actual year or decade of the movie. I asked Bob Augustus several years back about some Essex titles I was hoping he was going to release and he said they didn't have the rights to any on the list I sent him. I ask because chances are some may have slipped into the public domain (I know this is the case with most of the Essex films released prior to 1978. As you may know, VCA had a shady licensing deal with Essex in the early 90s (right after Essex Video itself folded). This resulted in many of the early 80s Essex films being re-released on VHS tape. Unfortunately, very few 70s titles (with the main exceptions of a few Spinelli films) made their way to the short lived VCA/Essex line. Of course, whether it was actually a deal with Joe Steinman or VCA took advantage of Essex Video's recent folding and deciding to quickly release as many as possible is unknown. Considering many of the VCA tapes were mastered directly off Essex Video releases (some of them even had the cool "Select/Essex" logo after the VCA logo. Other Exxes titles such as Sex World and Overnight Sensations got early releases from Arrow and VCX so who actually own what and what is PD is kinda hard to figure out. [Link]

Other classic 80's hits include Satisfiers of Alpha Blue, Amanda by Night, Lust on the Orient Express, Dixie Ray, Hollywood Star, The Grafenberg Spot, and Behind the Green Door, the Sequel.
