Does anyone know if there is an extension that will hide the name of the site on the tabs?

I hate sitting at work with "Adult DVD talk" sitting on one of my tabs, even when something completely innocent is on the page in front of me.

If you install Tab Mix Plus one of the options that gives you is to fix a top and bottom limit to the size of the tabs. If you set those limits very low then the tabs will always be too small to show the full name of the site.

Alternatively, there is HideTabBar which allows you to set a key combination with which you can hide all tabs and then bring them back when you need them. That one, however, would mean you had to press whatever keys you had chosen to bring the tab bar back every time you wanted to move from one tab to another and then press the keys again to hide the bar again, so it's not very convenient if you are moving between a lot of tabs.

I think the Tab Mix Plus option is by far the most practicable. But perhaps someone else will have some better suggestion than either of mine.

And with Tab Mix Plus you can also choose to display the name you yourself have given to the bookmark in stead of the site name, so name it ADT and it looks like you're checking some security company...

Thanks, Tab Mix Plus will work. I thought it wasn't compatible with 1.5, but I had tried installing the older Tab Mix version.

Yeah, I use the HideTabBar extension already, but find it to be more of a pain in the ass than anything.

Tab mix plus has an option on the tab context menu to rename the tabs. It's perfect. exactly what I was needing.
