One of our largest TV-stations sent a documentary about the industry last week. It was a british production. It focused on how the talent gets into the business, how they can be treated and also a critical view on what is referred to as "sleazy agents".
One of those sleazy agents actually is / was british Dick Nasty. Saw it on a british documentary on one of our national TV-stations. He, Dick, posted add's in british papers, and this girl, Felicity, was tempted and transported over to the valley (with a camera crew in heals). This was not very flattering for the world of porn. One of her first scenes, Dick sets her up with Max Hardcore. She is piss-scared, but chauffeur and host Nasty tries to calm her down, saying that "stories about him to be greatly exaggerated", "he has a small dick" and "drinking problem" (This would NOT have calmed me down). Anyway, when they arrive, Max is very abusive and direct. In stead of calming her down and introducing himself, he rams his d... up her ass, telling her (when he hears that she has worked with Steve Perry in Britain) that she is a dirty slut. This is before they have even started filming. She adresses to him that she is nervous, and she is trembling. This does not calm down Max.
Next, Felicity tells the crew that she is scared shitless, and don't wanna do it. Mr Nasty is just catatonic, watching the whole scenario as if he could'nt care less. The crew tries to make her pull out of it, but Max persuades her to keep on doing it (I must remind you, that this is Max, and not a shrink).
The scene is starting and she is very uncomfortable, which make Max very turned on, and brutal in my eyes. She finally, mid-scene, gets what look like a mental breakdown (it's very intimidating for the viewer), and runs out on the bathroom crying. Mr Nasty still looks like he is in a boring coma.
Now, the most disturbing part of this documentary unfolds. Max gets in to the bathroom, and tries to be "gentle", and wan't her to fulfill the scene. Bad timing, she just wanna go home to Britain to her family. She seems to be in shock. When some of these facts hits Max, the "gentle" side is gone. He talks about being a winner ("Are you a winner? Don't dissapoint me!!! Are you a looser? If you don't finish this scene you are a looser! I thought you were a winner, everybody told me"). When his manipulation goes wrong, the tone gets rude, and he tells that she is one of the few ever to back out. She is a coward. She costs him a lot of money for nothing (getting a camera man and cancelling his vacation). He is very confronting and mean in my eyes to a person in her most vulnerable. The camera team intervenes and takes her out of this situation, which pisses Max off. I am so glad that they were there, don't know how far he and his cameraman Paul Cox would have gone with her if they were not there. Very disturbing. She ends up in tears in the car, and MR Nasty is quiet as an oyster on the way back. She can't wait to go home to britain. I can't help thinkin that it was the director and not the female talent who wrecked this scene. The womens group in our country really got smell of bait, and they claimed for sure that this program presented the "truth" about the industry. Hope it's not!
This is not an attack on Max, this documentary shook me up ,and wanted to share some of the things presented in this drama. The production might be some years old, but I don't think it's too old.
max doesn't really change. Max is Max and every one knows his deal, including Dick Nasty. When an agent does that hes at fault not Max. Max was one of my firs scenes also. hahah but I guess I'm a winner. (pleae take that last bit with the sarcasm intended)
I saw this a few years ago and I thought it fairly manipulative in the way it used all the tricks of the mainstream anti-porn "documentary on porn" genre - a concerned hypocritical-liberal voice-over, the slow-motion, video-degraded, close-ups of girl having sex in slow-motion making her screams of pleasure sound like howls of pain, monstrous pornographers, pimp agents etc. The usual having-its-cake-and-eating-it-and-saying-it-made-you-sick approach to representing porn. I wasn't impressed by its techniques.
But if it stops girls from doing their first scenes with Max or getting pimped by Senior Nasty then I guess it serves its purpose. You didn't mention how Senior Nasty deliberately exposed her to Max so that subsequent bookings would be a relief and sure enough we then see her at a gang bang happily doing her thing and saying how glad she is that she's not back at that house with Max
First of all.....it's not much of a surprise that a mainstream documentary on porn would focus almost entirely on the negative. We're talking about Max here. The anti-porn lobby gets all bent out of shape over normal porn. Max is a strange fella. He's not a nice man (or at least, he doesn't seem to be). Everybody who knows anything about porn knows this. I haven't seen a Max flick in years. He just creeps me out.
But of course, he's a great big honkin' target for the anti-porn folks. Want to make people hate porn? Show 'em Max. Why don't any of these documentaries ever show the people who are happy in the business? Why don't they ever show anything positive about porn? Because they aren't real journalists. They set out to make porn look like a meat grinder and that's what they do.
This isn't to say bad stuff doesn't happen in the business. Just that it can't possibly be universally bad.
I never had an experience like that and I think if you know Max first hand before working with him you'd take it with a grain of salt as it's all show. I've been friends with him for years never worked with him but have been friends and he is a very nice guy outside of porn.
If you don't break the rules, you'll never have any fun! 717 Posts 10/06

"Nice" doesn't sell. There's no reason to do a nice or positive show about the adult business, because that wouldn't sell. I agree with the others about Max. he would be the last person you'd want to show the world who doesn't know anything about the adult business. Yes, they ought to do something positive about the business. But like the old news line goes.. "If it bleeds, it leads".
Jewel, you admitted that you haven't worked with him, so you may not know that part of him. I have heard enough stories about him to lead me to believe that he is very different when he's working. And given the stories, the girls' consent can sometimes be questioned.
I used to watch his earlier stuff, but I don't anymore because whether he is a misogynist or not, he at least gives the appearance that he enjoys abusing women. And, he gives those who do enjoy it more fuel.
I've heard reasons why a union wouldn't work for the adult biz, but I wish there was some kind of organization to police alleged incidences and practices. Too many very young girls are intimidated into doing anal, double anal, anal creampies, gangbangs, etc. Alright, I'm getting off my soapbox.
I worked with him and I adored him. Fuck i worked with him twice, read my posts. I don't pull punches. Max never pushed me harder than he said he would. I enjoyed working with him enough to work with him a second time, and if I was still in the biz I would work with him again. Max is Max, like I said. He is real and honest, you get what you get.
Fair enough Kami, but were you hesitant about any of the things you did? Did you refuse to do anything? Because I'm sure that many of his girls do. It would make sense that there would be no need to do any coercing when the girl has fewer boundaries.
Personally Max's stuff is not my cup of tea, but I've spoken with several girls who worked with him and they say the same as Kami.He tells the girls exactly what is going to happen on a shoot.

I've never seen any of this Max Hardcore guy's stuff, and definatly won't, I don't like that abuse the girl stuff at all, unless maybe it involves a BJ. But I digress, like someone said, what is going to sell? A documentary showing the good in porn, or the bad? When is the last time you saw any kind of documentary that only showed the good side of something? I can't remember one. I have always suspected things like this happened in this type of business, I think you would be extremely naive to think it doesn't. I just hope it doesn't happen much.
Well, you know something? Maybe hardcore porn isn't the best place for someone who has a lot of boundaries to be. The word "hardcore" does mean something. Should it really be a surprise to anyone who goes into the business and agrees to work with a guy named "Max Hardcore" that what they're going to be expected to do may be a little ummmmm......hardcore?
As much as I may not care for Max's product, I've heard from several sources that he does fill the girls in ahead of time and I really can't imagine anyone going into something like a porn shoot without checking out the people they're going to be working with first. And again...the guy's name is "Max Hardcore". Shouldn't that be a clue?

True, but Sally from Peoria who has never seen a porn and was not warned by the agencies is not likely to know what she is getting into. I'm not disputing that Max tells them upfront what he is about, but apparently some girls have said that he is rougher than they expected and were encouraged to go farther than they said that they were willing to.
Well, take a look at Felicity's filmography at BGAFD, and you may be surprised to find that she appeared in the second of the infamous Anabolic Rough Sex movies.
What marvelllous advice "Felicity" must have received from Mr Dick Nasty, agent extraordinaire, who, when not taking her to totally inappropriate gigs, appeared to be trying to get into her pants himself - what a way to win a girl's heart, Dick! The old break 'em down to build 'em up method, clearly.
And what protection she received from those gallant documentary makers, who cared about the poor girl's plight so much they stepped in to save her...right after they got three weeks' worth of juicy stuff on tape.
This is totally old news, and while i don't dispute the fact that this girl got a rough ride, the argument is similar to the soldier who joins the army and then moans about getting shot at.
I have noticed a number of similarly polemical documentry style productions to come out of Channel 4. Don't they know it gets the message through better if they drop the propaganda tact?
Honestly, some of these so-called documentary makers have a sideline in American party political broadcasts.
Propaganda or not.... Like any other industry or corporative in the world, the adult entertainment industry should not be untouchable for critique. It can't be that easy that because we are perverts, we accept anything. I find critique and debate to be very healthy....
This all happened 6 years ago now, but I remember the documentary. Personally, I don't like Max Hardcore and his obsession with making girls look underage. The best way to describe Max Hardcore is "unattractive" in every sense.

I actually saw the documentary. Usually I think American media is very biased towards certain issues and get my news from international sources. I honestly believe everything the docu said about the industry. I always felt there is that element involved in which there is. But the bottom line is the porn industry generates enough revenue that the sleaziness of it really does matter.
The problem is that such "documentaries" are often aimed not at being a catalyst for healthy debate and critique but rather, tearing down the entire industry. No matter what they say, this is what they really want. If they just wanted to affect change, there are other ways to do it.
There are people who are upset because porn exists at all. They don't just dislike the rough stuff or the stuff that many find "tasteless". They hate it all. This is why (IMO) you don't see many porn fans or industry insiders rushing to support such documentaries (well, I haven't seen this one so I guess I can only speculate but I've seen a few).
I like porn. I think there are far more positives to it than there are negatives. I'm not gonna give one iota of support to someone who wants to destroy it.
Random Precision, if you'd actually seen the documentary in question as you'd understand why it presented a partial view. I really don't think the makers had such a fully developed agenda as "tearing down the entire industry". It was a low level, very personal account, highly biased from the film maker's point of view.
While I accept Channel 4 has broadcast a number, indeed a whole season, of documentaries focussing on the darker side of porn, in the interests of balance, I should note that Channel 4 has broadcast plenty of uncritical coverage of the porn industry too, from European whimsy on Eurotrash to Seymore Butt's Family Business show.

Do I say these things shouldn't be open for debate? Do i say i agree with Max Hardcore's approach? Like what RandomPrecision said, i think these documentaries would carry a lot more wait, if they weren't made to put forward a film producers pre-conceived opinions.
If this girl had gone to the USA and everything had gone swimmingly with the Max shoot, then there's no program to make. Boo hoo.
The guy's name is Dick Nasty. Not Richard Friendly. Do we need a documentary to tell us that women get pushed to their limits and beyond in the porn industry? Not really. And if it tells us that the industry is full of cut-throat scum bags, should we be slack-jawed with suprise? Er, no.
I'm for exposing genuine mispractice, and mature debate. But you probably won't get unbiassed people deciding to make programs about the porn industry. Anyone got Louis Theroux's number?

Meh, I say to each their own. I met Max at the AEE in January, seemed like a really cool guy. I am not at all a fan of his type of porn he makes, seen clips on the net, but I am sure there are lots of women who work in the biz that like that rough straight up type of sex. Some probably say the easygoing type which I guess could be called "typical" does not do it for them. Then there are those who do not like to have the type of sex Max films on camera. And of course the media is going to centre on the negative side of the biz. Hell look at how the media loves to "report" the negative things about celebs and god forbid you do anything good, that skeleton in your closet is going to be paraded around to all. The Adult Entertainment Industry in a whole has always been the centre of controversy and negative reporting for decades. I take it with a grain of salt. If all else fails come up here to Canada, we allow you to set up gangbangs in your house or in hotel rooms and not be charged like the insane oscentity charges happening in the US. Now where is that Gangland Whiteboy Stomp dvd I have...
Well, Max Hardcore was hilarious porn back in the day. I am proud to say that he is one of those that, for me, if you say, Max Hardcore, and they don't know who you are talking about, well, they need to move on. Documentaries are only that. Fuck it.
No, the _best_ way to describe him would be "Raped to death by Hell's Angels, his rotted corpse ground up to use as roach-poison, salt strewn upon all land that he defiled by walking upon, and his name stricken from the history books". Sadly, this hasn't happened yet, but I have faith...
It's all a show for the camera or have you all forgotten that? If a girl is new and doesn't know how to pull off a good show then yes she might be freaked out by Max but she better learn as he's not the only one out there shooting this hard stuff. And the reason I never worked with him is he wouldn't work with me and I not him because we were friends we would look at each other and laugh at the thought. Girls who have breakdowns in porn have them with anyone not just this situation as I've seen it first hand on my sets. Some are just not made for this industry.
