Currently A&E is one of the only companies utilizing DVD's capability of storing title information on the disc. I have a 300 disc changer, and having this information is helpful because it means that I don't have to assign title information to the disc when I load it into the player. By the way, when using a changer, this title information is the way that you find the disc that you are looking for. The problem is that some of the discs have some really bad information in the title. For example, on "Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 1", the disc title is "deep". On "Deep Behind the Scenes with Seymore Butts Vol. 2", the disc title is "de2" (if title information is going to be insufficient, at least it should be consistent). The worst one is on "Trouble" the title info is "cwf" (no, that's not a typo) I appreciate that A&E is trying to do something good here, but when you put in bad info, it's worse than putting in nothing at all. It is very easy to assign title info to a disc when putting it in the player as long as no information is already on the disc. If the disc contains information that you want to override, it's more difficult. I also realize that there are not many players that currently use this information. But I have to believe that there will be more players utilizing this in the future, so it doesn't make any sense to put bad data out here. Thanks for any help that you can provide. [Link] |
