I have been trying to delete it since all of a sudden it won't open. Apparently one of the latest updates corrupted it. Lavasoft support says to delete and reinstall or delete the infected file. I can't get to any of it. I have tried Revo uninstaller , file shredder, and the program uninstaller as well as the control panel remove programs options. I have been able to get some of it off with file shredder and manual delete but there is a service running that I can't do a fucking thing with and I keep getting a message telling me "the feature you are trying to access is on a network resource that is not available" or some such shit. I have also tried system restore point on this damn thing too but no luck.

Sounds nasty. Have you tried to reinstall the program without deinstalling your corrupted program version? Perhaps this will enable you to deinstall the program.

Have you tried booting in safe mode and trying to uninstall it?

When exactly do you get that error message?
It's aawservice .exe, I think. Located in c:\program files\lavasoft\ad-aware (or wherever you installed ad-adware).

Yep but I can't get rid of it ! I get the error message when I try to delete the program with revo and with the other methods as well. I want to shut that damn service down and get rid of all vestiges of it and the program but can't. Adaware is a good program but apparently had a corrupted update and when I tried to upgrade to AE the trouble started.

I had a similar problem that started right after an update. I posted a description of the problem on http://www.lavasoftsupport.com/. One of the board gurus resolved it based on the HiJackThis and ComboFix log files they asked me to post. Took two or three days but I haven't had a network problem since.

I don't think you can delete while it's running, you need to stop it first.
Go to Windows Start -> Run
Type "services.msc" (no quotes) and click OK.
Find Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service in the list, right click on it and choose Properties. Click on Stop there (assuming it's running). Then select "Disabled" in Startup Type drop-down field. Click Apply.
Again, go to Go to Windows Start -> Run
Type "msconfig" (no quotes) and hit OK.
Click on Services Tab and uncheck Lavasoft Ad-Aware service from there. Reboot the PC.
Hopefully it won't be running any more and you can get rid of it.

You should be able to shut the service down in safe mode and then get rid of whatever it is. I don't understand why it wouldn't work. If it's that big of a deal, you could just reinstall your OS. It'll take a few hours to get everything back the way you like it but it's better than fighting with this for days.

Before you attempt to reinstall your OS, try this. Right click on My Computer->Properties->System Restore tab, then uncheck the box that reads: Turn off System Restore on all drives,->Apply->OK.
Reinstall Adaware AE free and then uninstall with Revo Uninstaller. If it still doesn't work try it again, but in Safe Mode. Once everything has been tried, don't forget to go back and turn System Restore back on.
The reason you could be getting that message is because something is left in System Restore and it's impossible to get it out unless you turn it off. Let me know if it works out.
You can also try Revo Uninstaller's Junk Files Cleaner once all that is done. It works pretty well and targets different items than CCleaner and Free Window Registry Repair does.
Open Revo Unistaller and on the Toolbar, click Tools, then to your left, click Junk Files Cleaner, then back up to the Toolbar click Scan. It won't show a scanning bar or anything similar. Just wait until the empty area has something in it and then click Delete-which is next to the Scan button.

Thanks guys. I think I have gotten rid of most of it if not the worst. I did get the service disabled and used the revo junk files thing and got rid of a few more files. I'm satisfied for now. Thanks for all the help.
