| Zoso Zep New Member 1 Posts 1/01 | I have to recommend Adult DVD Now to anyone buying DVD's and more specifically to those buying from the UK. I placed an order last Friday and received it today, a day earlier than I had expected due to the New Year festivities. The customer service was also excellent. I had made an e-mail query and within 10 minutes I had an answer to my problem. Also on the Saturday I had received an e-mail confirmaton stating the DVD's had been shipped. The Price Guarantee knocked more than $10 from each title compared to where I normally buy Dvd's (Dv-Depot). Although the service from Dv-Depot is pretty good, the delivery can take quite some time and the price is out of touch with most other retailers. Don't think I will be buying Porn Dvd's from anywhere else now. Top Notch Guys! [Link] |

| Flinty Member uk 164 Posts 5/00 | I know they give a free dvd with every 5 titles purchased but my only complaint would be that their selection of freebies is very poor. I know somebody is going to reply to this saying that is ungrateful but there are some really competitive deals being offered by companies at the moment. I just don't want to see ADN becoming too pricey or unreasonable to make me have to look for an alternative supplier. To summarise...as long as ADN remain competitive (i.e: keep their LPG etc) and maintain their high standard of excellence with customer service I'll be shopping from them for a long time to come. Does that make any sense at all??? |
| cykedout Member Ireland 245 Posts 8/00 | My only complaints are that they sometimes don't have all the titles available at other e-tailers (but they get there eventually - most of the time) and because of their method of shipping (and I'm not totally complaining here), a good few of my discs still don't have cases. But heh!, nothing in life's perfect. Pity none of the portal sites like Brands For Less, Cybershop, DASH or Ebates handle any of the sites affiliated to ADT. Think of how much more we could save! For watching our faourite DVD genre!!! Incidentally, anyone know where I can get some decent DVD cases for my Adult DVD Now collection. I mean 20 - 30 at a reasonable price (including shipping). I find it hard here in Ireland to get any retail. |

| snowman872 RainCoatReviews.com 400 Posts 6/00 | I was on their site tonight and it looks like all references to the low price guarantee are removed! They may not be doing this any longer. I certainly hope this isn't the case -- I recently placed a few orders and was quite happy. I sent them an email asking about this and will post more information when they reply. Snowman |

| spesedy Member Germany 238 Posts 8/00 | I have to admit I'm a bit disappointed since ADN not long ago posted a message on this board stating that they'd continue the Low Price Guarantee even if they might lose some money from time to time because they wanted to have the best service and satisfy lots of customers. I replied to Mr. Barron that I was sorry about that decision, and that I was certainly going to give other companies a try when they had some good deals instead of using ADN like I've always done in the past. Really a pity. I always liked ADN very much. |
| Flinty Member uk 164 Posts 5/00 | It seems like the message I placed above on the 4th January has come true: Suffice to say...I could see it coming. It would be interesting to see just how many people would rather have the Low Price Guarantee rather than the freebie movie..Hmmmm

| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | Anyone with basic business sense knows that you won't be around very long if you are losing money on a significant portion of your orders. You can't stay in business selling $5 bills for $4. Adult DVD Now has an excellent reputation for customer service, a great product selection and very good pricing. I'm sure the decision to drop the LPG program was not an easy one to make but it had to be done. I encourage people to shop around and compare. I think you'll find that Adult DVD Now is still a great value even without the LPG. Edited by - Drew Black on Jan 15 2001 |
| dvdman101 Member somewhere?!?! 17 Posts 12/00 | I actually agree with ADN, due to the fact you have dvdadvantage.com selling dvd's for as low as 5.95. I can't imagine them making more than a buck or two. And with that being the case and ADN trying to beat that price by a buck. Can we say where's the beef (flash from the past, sorry had to throw that in), oh I mean profit and with no profit, who the hell wants to work for free. Since we are on the subject of working for free or practically for free. How does dvdadvantage.com operate with so little profit or better yet why would they want to? They beat everyone elses prices by sometimes half or more. If I were them, I wouldn't try to beat everyone by half or more, I simply would try to bet the competition by a buck or two. Hey, I'm not complaining, but as a business person my self, you have to wonder. |
| snowman872 RainCoatReviews.com 400 Posts 6/00 | I think it's a false assumption that they were not making a profit when the low price guarantee was applied. A 5.95 DVD is an extreme example. Many times, I'm sure they applied the LPG when the discount was only $3-4. With bulk buying, the price of these porn DVDs is much lower than the average $15-22 I see most discs going for. Plus, I also think many orders probably contained discs that were not discounted at all. So their average profit margin may have been lower, but not eliminated. Price matching has long been policy at many leading retailers who have thrived. The list includes Walmart, Kmart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Office Depot, OfficeMax etc. Some places like Office Depot offer 155% price matching - up to $50. I'm not sure is that much harder for me to look in the Sunday newspaper and compare ads than it is to use the price search feature here. Indeed I have *done* this from time to time. Whether it is a price search engine or comparing newspaper ads - it is still imperfect information. There may be web retailers out there who offer the product even lower - who are not participating in the program. Although AdultDVDNow may have gotten clobbered in some transactions, it is not as bad as it seems because they don't stock every DVD under the sun. Just because you found DVD X for $5.95 in the engine did *not* mean it would be available at AdultDVDNow. Assuming the titles they do stock they buy in bulk (i.e discounted) quanities - they had some protection. If you are attracting customers on price - you have to expect lower profit margins. Snowman |
| snowman872 RainCoatReviews.com 400 Posts 6/00 | Just last night I purchased a title I spotted on the price search engine at more than 50% off at AdultDVDEmpire. I would have purchased it at AdultDVDNow if they had their LPG in effect. The Buy 5 Get 1 Free promo did not steer me back to AdultDVDNow because the price difference on this since disc ($10+) was enough to buy one of their bonus discs in FULL. Also, the Empire had very reasonable USPO shipping rates. People are going to continue to use the price search engine and snag great deals. The only difference is, AdultDVDNow is not going to make these sales. Customers will just buy the discs where they see them. AdultDVDNow is basically saying, we'd rather let the inventory sit and *maybe* sell it at full price than sell it at a reduced profit margin (or sometimes below cost). But the question is, who is going to buy it at the higher price? Generally only people who are uninformed about price search engine - at least until their sale or clearance is over. Overall, I think the Internet shopper are aware of such tools. I also think the titles we see at reduced prices are often slow sellers. Slow movers are apt to be similar from store to store. Unless the titles were picked up at a fire sale or someone by mistake ordered 1000 copies of "Granny's Gang Bang" -- all AdultDVDNow may be doing is missing an opportunity to unload unpopular stock. | zorro Member 45 Posts 10/00 | Got to agree completely. Here are a few examples; Heavenly Hooters, Please F*** Me, Double Penetrated, 18 & Nasty, Black Anal Coeds 7 DVDAdvantage = $41.03 for all of them AGAIN Hard Bound, Climax Shots 15, BJ Fantasies 10, Toys 4 Twats, Coed Angels, Pump My 19 yr Old ass DVDAdvantage = $45.28 Not even their buy 5 get 1 free will not tempt me at those prices!! These are older titles, which SHOULD be on sale!! These are all titles I have bought in the last 6 weeks from Adult DVd Now, using their Low Price match - but I certainly will not use them again; in the majority of cases, in my opinion, they are just too expensive, without their LPG. Over the last 12-18 months I have bought a couple of hundred from ADN, but it looks like my custom is going somewhere else unfortunately. I say unfortunately because their customer service (Frank) was fantastic - always sorting out problems quickly, but that cannot make up for the additional 230% cost of the above disks from the 2 retailers. So, where do I shop now!! |
| spesedy Member Germany 238 Posts 8/00 | I agree that without their LPG many titles are simply too expensive. I hesitate to use DVDAdvantage though since the international shipment costs are extremely high. For $30 per shipment I can get up to 3 extra DVDs, so I have to check carefully if the cost of an order is still lower at DVDAdvantage after adding such a horribly high shipping cost. I've also ordered once at Fivestar. They were quite fast and sent the DVDs with their Amaray-boxes. They also got a few good deals, but most of the DVDs are still a lot more expensive than at DVDAdvantage. For you Americans out there finding an alternative is certainly easier than for the people in other countries. I guess I simply won't buy that many DVDs anymore. |
| Anders4371 Member 14 Posts 1/01 | |
| spesedy Member Germany 238 Posts 8/00 | On the other hand FiveStar was just as fast when I tried it. In my experience 6-7 days are normal, I also received some orders after 3 or 4 days which really made me wonder. But I guess the speed doesn't vary too much between the well-known companies mentioned here on ADT. |
| charlie Member uk 450 Posts 4/00 | AdultDVDNow has been my prefered supplier for the last 12 months and have never had any problems with any of my orders. Their excellent customer service coupled with the low price guarantee ensured I ordered from them every time. Without the low price guarantee ADN have lost a great marketing tool. Maybe they could have changed the policy of the LPG instead of getting rid of it altogether i.e. exclude clearance titles or just to match the competitors price without knocking another $1 off. Or get get rid of the buy 5 get 1 free offer instead which is less appealing. It seems that DVDAdvantage has the lowest prices and I have been tempted in the past to order from them until I saw the minimum cost of shipping to the UK is $30. To offset this cost I would have to order more titles and then wait in fear of the whole lot being seized by UK Customs. What a nightmare that would be. As a result I always went back to ADN and they price matched, without complaint. Possibly at a loss, which no business should be expected to do and survive. Maybe ADN will be restructuring their prices to take into account the demise of the LPG and it would be interesting to get some feed back from Jay or Frank on the matter. Meanwhile I have been looking at other companies that supply to the UK and have narrowed it down to Fivestar and Globalflix. Both are listed on ADT and a search on past forum topics show they have good reports from their customers. A promising start. Just had a look at Globalflix and they have a lot of good deals going on at the moment including bundles. They have a limited inventory but the prices of the lower end titles look OK. Anybody from the UK/Europe used them before? |
| nruddock Member UK 92 Posts 1/00 | I've used them many times, but I just can't go there anymore! |
| torris Senior Member Deep within Mila's anus 1827 Posts 1/00 | I imagine the "big winner" in ADN dropping their price match will be DVD Advantage. They're pretty much the cheapest overall right? |
| Flinty Member uk 164 Posts 5/00 | I will still be shopping at ADN even with the decision to remove their Low Price Guarantee. However my usual purchases of 5 to 10 every couple of months is gonna have to be cut to 5-10 in every 4 months. I respect ADN in their decision but I have a living to make as well. |

| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | Looks like I won't be ordering from them anymore unfortunately, simply because they're more expensive than other stores on the titles I'm interested in. I mean, Jay and Frank have always been very helpful to me but the trouble is when other stores are almost always cheaper then them.... If they were to rethink their policy and price-match rather then price-beat, I would buy from them again in an instant. Even if they were to drop the freebies and go to price-matching it'd be good enough for me.. otherwise.. well, I'll be shopping elsewhere as others will.. scipio |

| torris Senior Member Deep within Mila's anus 1827 Posts 1/00 | going for $5.99 a six pack. Why should I pay more for about the same? I don't think you can blame this "desertion" of ADN as a byproduct of the fickle internet age. I was perfectly happy to give all my business to ADN b/c they catered to me as a volume buyer where I could get a bigger bang for my buck. But now their prices are too high to think that I will continue my past buying pattern with them unabated. That's the beauty of competition. It's better to spread the money around to a variety of For some weird reason, DVDs - both X and mainstream have had to cater their prices to |
| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | This thread makes an interesting study in the loss of brand loyalty in the internet age. ------------------------ Not really, I'm always one to look around for deals and suchlike, and "brand" loyalty is an amorphous thing at best, especially when we're discussing a retail outlet rather than a product line (K-Mart vs Sony Playstation, or in this case, ADN vs Private). Previously, with the LPG, I'd be silly to not buy from ADN, in my international situation, etc. All other things being equal, I'd still choose to buy at ADN. However, all things are not better than equal as before, nor are they equal. If I can get the same titles from 5-Star, which by all accounts is ALSO a very customer-driven business, for, say a saving of $20 over 10 titles (just using Private's mere $2 difference as my basis) then why not? While I certainly don't want to see ADN go out of business, ultimately I'll go where I find the best price/service ratio for myself. If ADN were the same as others price-wise then my CS and buying experiences from them would keep them my only choice easily. scipio |
| Jeff @ IAFD Webmaster IAFD.COM 931 Posts 6/00 | Would you shop around for the best prices on all DVDs and then go to ADN and say "match these 2 prices from Excal, these two from FiveStar, and this one from Empire"? It's almost like going back to the days of haggling for everything... when will priceline.com start dealing in porn? :-) |

| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | Since I'm a renter and not a purchaser, I guess I don't quite get the nuance. Would you shop around for the best prices on all DVDs and then go to ADN and say "match these 2 prices from Excal, these two from FiveStar, and this one from Empire"? That's pretty much correct. That's how it was explained to me by Jay when I was first confused about how their guarantee worked, and that's how I made all my orders. But the thing is at this stage the novelty of the real-cheap dvds had worn off, and I'd just get mostly Private titles for $1 off other companies' prices (around $23 instead of 24 for the most part) and perhaps 1-3 other things that looked good from wherever else (pick up lines or whatever). That was the great thing, instead of having to mix'n'match what you wanted to order, you'd just get everything from ADN If I wanted to get 3 privates that were close enough to ADNs regular price ($2 difference) and, say, "Get It Here Vol 37" which I REALLY wanted, but ADN were selling it for $27 while dvdsmutshack and dvdpornworld were selling it for $20, you'd get it as well anyway. a couple bucks here and there adds up to a significant saving over 10dvds. The $1 off was just like icing on the cake, as was the free disc... cheers, scipio |

| mr. october Member memphis 109 Posts 9/03 | i just completed my second order with them and again found all aspects to be more than satisfactory. titles are priced $2-$3 above that which you see from the lowest priced retailers .... but i used coupons from adultdvdtalk to bring the price down to about $20 per dvd. (additional coupons for my next order were included in my shipment.) -their inventory is done in real time ... meaning if it's listed "in stock" , they have it. -they ship immediately. |
| zorro Member 45 Posts 10/00 | Example; Purchase 5 items and you want them in 3-4 days - $34.99!!!! If you want them in 4-11 days - $20.99!!!! I honestly think that is completely outrageous. I now use; http://www.adultdvdtoday.com/ International shipping is FANTASTIC!!! Purchase 5 items and you want them in 3-4 days - $4.95!!!! I have used them 5 times now and my order ALWAYS arrives within 5 days - for one seventh of the cost of adult dvdnow!!! CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN WHY ADULTDVDNOW ARE CHARGING SUCH RIP OFF RATES FOR INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING???? |

| zorro Member 45 Posts 10/00 | Deutsche Post Plus Air Mail (Free Shipping) 10-21 Days $0.00 For up to 3 week shipping!!!!!!!!!!!!! (The next part of the movie will be out by that time!) Same question again - why is it that adultdvdtoday can offer shipping which arrives in 4/5 days for $4.95, yet adultdvdnow charge, 7 TIMES THAT AMOUNT - $34.99 Still rip off prices. Not only that but adultdvdtoday's prices are extremely good, with vouchers also available! |
| Aaron0617 Member 158 Posts 12/01 | I ordered 4 titles 9/12 and ran into the postwoman today (9/17) during my break and picked it up. Note 1 ~ their buy 3 get 1 free deal doesn't include sale/reduced items. Didn't notice that fine print. Guess that's why the 'free' DVD I selected didn't arrive with the rest. Note 2 ~ The free shipping is 'domestic non trackable' which takes three weeks. I selected USPS Priority Mail $5.75 which took the 4 days. I didn't get an email when I completed my order or when it shipped. Overall not bad. Service just as good as 5Star, prices lower too. Disappointed about the free shipping thing. |
