Robert Member My past is a foreign country. Most things are different there, including word usage. 503 Posts 12/06	Posted - Dec 19 2006 : 4:04PM I don't know if this topic is permitted (reference to another web site) but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about what happened to the adult dvd trader web site (adultdvdtrader.com). I did a search on postings and found no reference to this subject on this forum for the past 120 days, so I thought I'd mention it. On 10/13 I tried to access that site and it was unavailable. I sent an e-mail to AVDV Customer Service and received the following in reply - "The site is currently down. Sorry for any inconvenience." On 10/22 I got this reply to a second query - "We had a server failure. ... Please bear with us while we get things up and running. That is the last I heard from them. It has some really good people to trade with and a feedback system if you would like to know any past history of trade from that member. If you like trading dvd's, give it a try some time. [Link]

Click to expand I know about the trader forum. I'm giving it a try. I posted a long list of VHS tapes and DVDs for trade. So far, no response. I just assumed they pulled the plug. Click to expand I was just curious. Since they said they were trying to get back up, I thought they would be back. Then again, I thought maybe someone had forced them off on some legality or maybe they didn't pay their bills. [Link]

I had to 'burn' my mailbox. :) So, I only put my e-mail addy with my posts in a way that a spider bot can't pick it up and sell it to spammers. First thing a spider bot does is look for an @ symbol. Robert: Not sure if you realize it, but if someone clicks on that little envelope, in one of your posts right now, instead of being presented with a window to email you with, we get: Send a message via email We're sorry, Robert chose not to allow their email address to be accessible. You can change that, if you like. As far as posting an email address, so that it is readable here in text like this - I don't know how Drew's forums are with that vs. the web harvesting bots out there.... if they can get your address or not from this forum. I just created another mailbox whose address has only been included in my adultdvdtalk forum profile (so I should only get e-mail from forum members) and I have not blocked it. I also tested it (twice) and it works. I've gone back and edited my post and removed the old e-mail addy. Hoping to hear from you (and not any spammers). :) [Link]

Before I put that information in my post (leaving out the @ sign and separating and reversing the domain name and user name) I did a search of the 'Forum Archives' to see exactly what was stored in addition to the posts themselve (headers, routings, etc.) and I could not even find any of the posts. There doesn't seem to be any AdultDVDTalk Forum threads stored in the 'Forum Archives.' I thought that was strange. Maybe I didn't do a proper search. Robert [Link]

I don't like archived copies of our pages floating around on the internet beyond our control in today's legal climate. If I need to pull content down because of a new court ruling or new law I don't want to have to worry about older versions existing elsewhere on the internet. [Link]
