Bo Derek is on a book tour and was being interviewed this afternoon by "Roe and Garry" on WLS-AM Radio here in Chicago. They were asking her about all the pornstars in the party scene in the movie "10." When Dudley Moore looks through the telescope and was watching the sexy party going on at his neighbor's house, you can cleary see Constance Money, Annette Haven, Eric Edwards and many others. She volunteered that she recruited them for Blake Edwards. They asked her how she knew them, and she volunteered that she had made a porn film! Sadly, only from behind the camera. According to Bo, it was 1979, and as an experiment, she and her husband John took $50,000 of their own money and tried to shoot an adult film that would appeal to women. They wanted to explore a niche, to see if it would prove profitable, given that all porn made before that was geared toward appealing to men. She explained it was on that film that she =really= learned how to make a movie. Because on that budget, they couldn't afford to hire all the necessary "techies" for the sound, lighting, editing, etc., so they had to do it all themselves. She said the movie was called LOVE YOU, and is no longer in print. Well, not exactly. The iafd listing is here -- LOVE YOU -- and sure enough, it is available still through two vendors! And it is even better made than 95% of the Golden Age classic flicks. But not as well made as any Blake film. It is =obvious= that this was a porno version of chick-flick. Obvious! Essentially, it can be best described as a soap opera story built around sex and having sex. The gorgeous Annette Haven stars as a young newlywed wife who wants to explore her sex life more. Her husband is played by Wade Nichols, who you all might remember =did= go on to star in a real mainstream soap opera! Almost the entire movie is filmed on the beach. Much of it at night, lit only by a campfire. The newlyweds are joined by another couple who are their best friends, played by Leslee Bovee and I think Turk Lyons. (Paul Thomas is also credited in this movie, but I think he only appeared in a dream sequence). Anyway, there is a lot of talking and "exploring of feelings" before and after the various couplings. It is so funny to see this and remember it is supposed to be a porno! The sex was "beautiful" and tepid. The external cumshots were present but downplayed; They would be shot in the background, in the dark, only on the belly, and only shown for a few seconds. In contrast, great care and attention was paid to the women's orgasms! The best way to describe this is a single-X movie in contrast to a triple-X. It is the softest hardcore movie you will ever see, but it is not softcore. I enjoyed it! I could have lived without all the "feelings" crap.
