The first was a former mainstream bookstore where I bought comic books as a kid. By the early 90's it was a adult shop with the booths in the back. Rarely had current videos so in 1991, a lot of what I got was from the late 80's. First video was FANTASY COUPLES, a compilation with Angela Baron, Barbara Dare, Alicia Monet, & Tracey Adams. You bought a video & then traded it for $5.25. Man those big ass boxes were obnoxious!!! It was near a bus stop & there were always people there. Made entering & leaving difficult. It closed in 96. The 2nd place was a much nicer store that allowed you to rent. Great selection too. I went there from 1996 - 2009 I think. The place still open is a bookstore I visited maybe 20 times. Got the bagged pack of magazines you used to get. Anyway, I'm sure with Internet today, a lot of shops have closed. [Link] |

That place was great: awesome selection that was well-organized, the "New Releases" really were that and the store itself was spacious, well-lit and clean. I always looked forward to stopping in every couple weeks to check out the latest stuff from my favorites, especially Red Light District Video. Looking back now, I guess the one thing that wasn't so great was the prices, but then again, I was a single guy who lived on the base and essentially had no living expenses, so I didn't mind spending $25+ for a DVD. After searching for it online just now, it looks like it's still in business; hard to imagine it ever closing, considering that it's located just outside a submarine base which consists of like 99% men. Nowadays, while I still prefer watching DVDs on the big screen rather than the small screen, I buy my DVDs online, mainly from Adult DVD Marketplace-the best prices you'll find anywhere for DVDs, if you ask me. |

So most stores aren't doing well, they just survive Edited by - LCF on 6/22/2014 5:01:00 AM |

Once in a while, one of the girls would try on some lingerie in the dressing room, and then step out to get her friends' opinions. On these occasions, I couldn't help but imagine they were aware of the male customers, and possibly enjoyed the attention. That said, I tried not to stare. A few years ago, they stopped carrying DVDs and I stopped going there. For a while, I used AdultDVDmarketplace.com for de facto rentals. I would purchase and resell used DVDs. At one point, I went on vacation, and suspended my seller account. When I came back, it seemed like too much hassle to package a DVD, drive to the post office, and pay for postage to mail it to the buyer, for just a few dollars. So I never reactivated the seller account. Now I own so many half-viewed DVDs that whenever I think of purchasing one, I can't convince myself that it wouldn't just end up collecting dust. I've had a couple of bad experiences after providing credit card information to online porn companies, so I am very cautious about joining websites, and haven't joined one in over a year. So I spend very little money on porn, after being a very regular customer for decades. I doubt that I am typical, but if I could still rent DVDs in a pleasant environment, I would spend much more money on porn than I do now. As for the future of porn, I've said it before, but: If someone trustworthy were to provide aggregation with a good recommendation engine, and reasonable prices to download scenes, I would probably become a very regular customer. |

Kind of like perv voodoo... having an article of clothing to sniff and touch, and to stroke your cock with. Fuck, I'm getting myself hard just thinking about this. I'm going to have to head out to the stripclub and see if I can talk one of the girls into selling me her soaking wet panties. Spankity, spankity, spankity... |

I had the feeling that maybe his tastes didn't really run towards the stereotype, but that she didn't know his porn preferences. In hindsight, I wish I had flirted a little by asking more probing questions to try and understand his (and possibly her) kinks. I also passed up the opportunity to tell her about what I liked. |
