Hey Guys,
I'm not sure exactly where to put this post, so I'll stick here. Does anybody know if that dude Jay Servidio is on the level? Or is he a total rip off? Are his websites real money makers? Or is it all just a bunch of smoke and mirrors? Is Teleteria a big SCAM? Anybody who knows, please post here.
Just Wondering.

I'd never even heard of them until your post, but a simple Google search of teleteria brings back loads of negative opinions and insinuations of scam. The one link I clicked on was a former employee who said that Jay Servidio is running a scam operation and never has enough money to pay his employees, etc. Take from that what you will, but this seemed to be the tip of the iceberg.

I did the Google search thing. But I was hoping somebody in the Adult Industry would have an iside opinion of the workings of Teleteria.
Check out his sites:
http://www.teleteria.net/

http://www.teleteria.tv/
I filled in the send me more info thing, and he called me up right after I got offline. WTF? He even claims to teach classes on the adult industry. So if anybody on here is in the Adult Industry please post here, if you know Jay.

I'm the marketing director at Teleteria. Yes, there is some bad publicity out there about Jay Servidio and Teleteria. Like any business there are failures and even a disgruntled employee.
I have worked for Teleteria since 1997 in a variety of roles. I have never had any issues with him concerning my pay. For the last six years I have worked as the marketing director. Contrary to popular belief adult turnkeys are like any other business - you have to market them yourself. The site will run itself but will NOT market itself. There are a few web owners who have failed at marketing themselves successfully. Teleteria, of course, is blamed for the failure.
The site design and content are top quality and with my work on teaching people how to market their site(s) there are fewer failed businesses.
Adult entertainment is a very profitable business to be in - men never give up their toys or pleasures!
Jay does give seminars and even has them upon YouTube. You can watch the same information on the www.teleteria.net website. He does personally call all people who request a brochure. His staff - including me - also contact those that purchase a site and frequently I will speak with people who are considering purchasing a site just so they know up front what they will need to focus on.
I would welcome the opportunity to answer any marketing or website related questions that you might have whether you are a Teleteria client or not.
I hope this helps to answer your questions.

Wow, that name brings back memories. I haven't heard it in ages. I think Jay and Teleteria were building turnkey adult sites for people and then somehow ripping them off. Typing in 'teleteria+scam' into Google gave me [ invalid url ].

We have found a couple of people using the "Teleteria+scam" approach to promote their own business - which has nothing to do with the adult business. As to negative postings - again, if one looks closely it can be determined that one or two people are posting the same information over and over - same words, format everything.
Because of the failures of some of our clients, I was hired to help with marketing strategies. Since my hiring, there have been no new postings that I am aware of.
I would be more than happy to talk or email with whomever has questions.
Take care,

This is simply not true. The DVD market is taking a rather large hit in sales right now. Companies are laying off people and mergers are occurring frequently. On the internet side, things are a little better, but for the most part even membership sales and rebills are slumping. Some of that is the summer. Adult websites always take a hit in the summer. With the amount of free porn available, running an adult website is not a guaranteed money maker.
I suggest that for a website to be profitable, you must be well capitalized. I always tell my clients do not even bother to try opening an adult website unless you come in with no less than $100,000 to start, and even then that might not last long.

I disagree, one doesn't need a lot of money to be successful in the adult website business. There are standard charges one must be aware of such as hosting, SEO package, and the rest is what you want to spend.
What I have found to be true is that one must have and do the following:
have an easy to navigate site; quality content varied enough to entice the general populace; and,
content that changes at least monthly
To market an adult site one needs to focus on many different avenues, such as:
Search Engine Optimization Package that ensures they are not labeled as spam and that keeps them moving upward in the search engine. PRICING ON SEOS DEPENDS ON THE COMPANY AND WHAT YOU ARE HAVING DONE.
In order for the SEO to work well, one must recip link - one should never stop because it gives you more than places on the search engines - FREE
I suggest our clients use Thunder-ball.net - this is an excellent resource for recip linking - FREE
On-line classified ads - THERE ARE FREEBIES OF THESE OUT THERE
Word of Mouth - FREE
Business Cards - minimal price as you can do them from your own home and don't need anything elaborate
T-Shirts with URL - give to college students, they wear anything everywhere! MINIMAL CHARGE
This is just a sampling of what an adult website owner can do and on a shoestring budget and still be successful! Of course there are other things one can do.
Take advantage of your environment! I spoke with one gentleman in New Orleans (pre-Katrina) who took 150 business cards he had done up himself, handed them out at 3 bars. By Wednesday morning he had 8 clients and his site had been up less than one week and it wasn't even in the search engines yet. By taking advantage of your environment you can be successful using very little money.

If you are talking about a website that uses feeds, non exclusive licensed content and does not have a budget for advertising/branding/marketing, then I might agree. However, the success of such a site will be limited.
For a site to be truly successful, a site needs exclusive quality content as well as advertising to promote itself. A single exclusive scene will cost anywhere from $500 to $2500, depending on the sex act of that scene. At $2500 - 20 scenes, which is not a lot of content will cost $50,000. Additionally a starting ad budget could be $5000 to $15000 and of course you have the costs of building the site.

Michael is correct
Jay Servideo is well known within the adult webmaster community as your basic huckster.
Its kind of like all the people who try to sell you get rich quick by working at home schemes yada yada....
think of it this way if theres so much monry in it why is he trying to sell you the opportunity (and I use the word loosely) to do it instead of doing it himself?
he used to sell this snake oil at adult webmaster shows.....not anymore really go sign up on gofuckyourself dot com and ask about him there...
GFY is THE forum for adult webmasters.
