When my card was recently declined with them i rang my bank to let them know this was a genuine transaction. At this time i noticed there was a fraudulent charge on my card. As it was for only £40 my bank didn't seem too concerned...they mentioned i could cancel my card but seem fairly ambivalent. Given that i wanted cdmovies to get this order out to me asap... i went ahead & emailed cdmovies back telling them to go ahead and retry. The reply i got from them was "which order, which card"? For fucks sake...which card do you think? I've only got one on file with them. Which order? Oh i don't know....maybe the one that you have just emailed me about? Maybe the one that is still in the subject line of the email? Or maybe the one that you only had to scroll down and read (seeing as i was merely replying to the initial email they sent me about this fucking order). In any case i only have one order outstanding so i guess that was the one! Now the thing with cdmovies is you only get one email reply a day (if you are lucky). So when i made it childishly clear which order i was talking about....i knew nothing would happen for 24 hours. That email would have reached them on the 28th Oct. Since then nothing. I have sent another 4 since. Oh.. and my card was then hit with a £1400 ($3000) fradulent charge. Of course, i'm straight on the phone to the bank. This time i'm straight through to the fraud department and my card is cancelled (no waiting for cdmovies to confirm they charged me sucessfully). The lady is listing various other bogus charges....and i eventually establish cdmovies have charged my card on 29th October. I still have not heard from cdmovies and my account details online still state 'card declined, order not shipped'. I even checked to make sure there is no public holiday currently running in the US. I have a guy asking me about the dvds i ordered on his behalf. My reply to him is ..."well they are ready to be shipped...they might have been already...i'm not sure...i'm waiting for a response". It sounds like i'm fobbing him off. He'll be asking for his money back soon if these unprofessional idiots don't pull their fingers out of their assholes and get back to me. I am starting to wonder whether they were capable of keeping my card details safe? Maybe this is why my card was compromised. I only use it to order online dvds from retailers on here...but mostly with them. [Link] |

Speaking generally, I am afraid that one of the risks involved in online shopping is that the trustworthiness of staff who are entrusted with processing card details is paramount - otherwise all the online security measures are worthless. Unfortunately, use of automated payment gateways (automated online card processing operated by banks) like World Pay which would help protect the customer and assist retailers with security seems pretty rare on adult DVD web sites - I've seen some on European stores but never on a US store. I presume this sort of facility is much harder to get for businesses in the adult industry. |

| sir wankalot Member UK 904 Posts 5/03 | I wouldn't suggest the problem lies with any of these retailers unless another ADT member has had similar problems recently? I would be naturally more suspicious of a Bangkok travel agent where i used my card to book a flight. However this was way back in december 2007. There has been a recent case of an Indian hsbc employee fraudulantly using customers details when working at a call centre (when i call hsbc to discuss credit card fraud i am put through to their call centre in Bangalore)....so, essentially the breach could be anywhere. Most of the fraudulant transactions have been made in Spain, and i haven't used my card to buy anything from there. |
