I made an order well ove 2 weeks ago for an HD-DVD. I checked the price search and they had by far the best price. I should have realized something was rotten in denmark. A week ago I finally recieved a tracking # that turned out to be bogus. The email adress they provide to inquire about orders is bogus. The phone # they provide leads you to a vague voicemail that doesn't even identify himself with the site. I feel like I've just been scammed and just wanted to give everyone the heads up. DONT BUY FROM ADULTDVDEXPLORER.COM!!! They have HD-DVDs listed at half the price as other stores. Learn from my mistake. This site is too good to be true.

I hope adultdvdtalk.com takes them off the price search.

I agree. I placed an order, and ended up double ordering due to their crappy site. Now I can't get any response on doing a return. I'm going to check my credit card and make sure they didn't run wild with it.

Let me know how you made out. This site should really do something. At the very least, take explorer off the list of stores and price search.

At this point I'm pretty sure I have no chance of doing the return. A scan of my credit card reveals no suspicious activity, and as I actually did receive product they are not a TOTAL scam. At best they are simply an unresponsive and crappy company who I'll avoid in the future. I would agree that the store should be taken off the list.

Well good to know that they aren't a total scam. I wonder if I'm ever actually going to recieve this HD-DVD.

I have ordered from them successfully for about seven years now, and usually receive my orders delivered to Australia within a week no problems at all.

However, I have noticed that in the last six months a lot of my new release orders have been unfulfilled. They seem to have introduced a policy that if they haven't despatched your order within two weeks they will cancel the order. Previously they would leave your order open until they filled it (even if it took six months for a backordered item).

I think that they must have a serious stock supply problem these days, because of my last four or so orders I have had one or two new release dvds in the orders unfulfilled.

There may have been a change in management.

There was a change in ownership and management. Steph wrote to them yesterday to point them to this thread. We'll see what happens. We will remove them from the site if this turns out to be business as usual for them.

I have been a customer of Adultdvdexplorer for 3 years. I haven't had any issues with them. In fact I just recently took advantage of their 20% discount and received my movies the next day.

I will continue to use them as my choice for movie purchases.

Pink Lady - that you for singing up and contributing. Your store will be off our site in about 15 minutes.

Signing up for a forum account and posing as a customer might work better if you didn't do it from an IP address that trace routes to your company's network.

I'll never understand why people purchase quality businesses and then immediately change things. Inevitably, those quality businesses turn into shit.

If you're going to completely change the way the business is run, why bother spending money on an existing business? You may as well start from scratch. The existing customers were there because they liked the old business. If you're going to change the business, the old customers will become ex-customers.

I ordered from Adult DVD Explorer a week or so ago. In everyone's humble opinion should I just presume I won't be receiving my DVDs?

tdp - I would not say the business is a scam. I just think they have operational issues. My guess is you will receive your order in an untimely fashion.

Update,

I was shocked to see this order finally arrived.

The only problem is that they sent me the regular DVD instead of the HD-DVD!!!

The only reason I ordered this was to check out the HD-DVD quality. Hopefully I can get a full refund. This is obviously the last time I buy from these guys. Why take a chance when there are so many good stores out there. Adultdvdmarketplace.com and Xrentdvd.com are both great. Don't bother with these idiots. They don't know the difference between a DVD and and HD-DVD.

Was there a resolution or a explanation of why it took so long for your order to arrive even though it was the wrong DVD?

I've been in touch with Adult DVD Explorer throughout the day today. They are taking this very seriously and are actively making changes to their website and business to improve a customer's experience. They also explained the "pink lady" incident above. They will soon have a proper customer service presence here in the forum.

Earlier today they rerouted their 800 number and updated their website to reflect the changed number. They also have installed auto-responders on customer service email accounts so customer know that their emails were received.

I'm still working with them on a few other minor issues and we most likely will reinstate them in the price search soon. They are committed to fixing these issues. They are not a fly-by-night operation.

Darth has been the most vocal critic in this thread but appears to have provided only part of the story. It turns out his order was placed on a Saturday and shipped 3 workdays later on the 28th via USPS First Class mail (the free shipping option was selected at checkout). It shipped from their warehouse in CA. First Class mail will experience slowdowns during a Holiday week. Easter isn't as bad as Christmas but it can be slow due to increased mail volume. The actual shipping time was 11 days which isn't unheard of for First Class mail going across country.

Regarding the tracking number being bogus, USPS Track and Ship doesn't work like a UPS tracking number. USPS doesn't report each stop along the path from sender to destination. it generally only reports delivery confirmation so there will be a period where a tracking number appears to be invalid.

re: the wrong DVD being shipped, I think they will correct this for you. In the first post in this thread you seemed to indicate that you knew something wasn't right with the pricing when you placed the order.

Additionally, I don't know what's become of the relationship between adultdetective.com and adultdvdexplorer.com in recent years but at one point in time adultdvdexplorer was the preferred vendor on the adultdetective.com network of websites.

Or, to put it another way, the only thing USPS tracking does is tell you that the postal system has your package. Aside from that, it is worthless. I had a package delivered the same day their web site said it was on the east coast.

It really isn't a tracking number, that's why they call it delivery confirmation instead of tracking. UPS has tracking, but also costs a lot more.

Based on 5+ years experience in online retailing, I can tell you that, while not unheard of, 11 days is an awfully long time for a package to be in transit when it is shipped via First Class Mail anywhere in the lower 48. One thing to remember is that there basically isn't much difference in shipping time between Priority Mail and First Class Mail. The way it was explained to me is that both are routed the same way, but Priority Mail gets priority if there isn't room for both, and that's really the only difference. But most of the time there is room, so it doesn't matter. Of course, if it makes you feel better to put that priority sticker on your package, or to ship in one of those Priority Mail envelopes, then the Postal Service is more than willing to take your money.

A more likely scenario is that the item was picked and packed and a delivery confirmation sticker was printed out and stuck on the package. Then the package was marked as shipped in the retailer's system and the package itself was put in a bin awaiting pickup or transport to the local post office. I'm actually not sure if USPS makes pickups like UPS does. I suspect not. At any rate, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a big gap between when the retailer said the item shipped and when it actually hit the postal system.

Although I am sure there is some increased traffic, Easter isn't really a major shipping week, at least not in a disruptive sense. The holidays we worried about were Christmas (obviously), Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, and, to a lesser extent, Father's Day. I would guess graduation weeks are probably a little busier too.

I've had packages that I've sent from Oregon that take forever going to New England via First Class. I don't know where Darth-Morpheous is located but there are places that it takes a while, holiday or not.

Normally priority gets to me a day or two quicker than first class (in the midwest).

As for the original subject, that's great to hear that Adult DVD Explorer is taking this so seriously and working to correct things.

I have been contacted by adultexplorer and they are going above and beyond to fix the problem. I can't say enough about the professionalism they have shown. It's obvious to me that they just had to iron out some kinks from the new ownership. They are overnighting me the correct HD-DVD and sending me an envelope to send the DVD they sent. Thanks toe Drew and adultdvdtalk.com for all the help. I wouldn't have been able to contact them without you and again thank you.

Cool. I'm awaiting a shipment on an order from a week ago. This thread was a sort of roller coaster in wondering if my order will be successful. Glad to hear they're being responsive and responsible.

fuck them...they wont even answer my emails..."leave an open invitation"...fuck you man...spend your time shipping out your shit instead of posting and defending your sorry self on a message board...I learned my lesson and WILL NOT ever order from you guys again, and I want to make sure others dont make the same mistake...you dig your own grave in this business...deal with it. I'll "eat" the 20 bones I spent on you guys, just so I get the satisfaction of paying somebody who actually cares about customer service.

Yeah, that's a real productive post. The Explorer has conceded that they are having problems and are taking steps to rectify those problems. Instead of using this new avenue to help yourself, and at the same time helps Explorer to fix their problems, you go on a stupid tirade instead.

Good thinking....

At least give the company time to fix problems. If the problems don't get corrected, then let the negative comments fly. It takes a good company to admit mistakes and allow them time to fix the problems. All companies experience problems at some point in time.

The original post that I wrote was a lot less tactful. After getting my thoughts off of my chest by actually writing them (but not hitting the "Post New Reply" button), I read what I had written and decided that is was as inflammatory as the post to which I was replying. So, I deleted the original post and wrote the one that I did.

Reading posts before hitting the "Post New Reply" button is something that I wish a few more people around here would do.

A big +1 myself. There's a few times I wished I would have read the post a second time before hitting the "Post New Reply" button as well, but if I said it, I said it and I'm not going to cover it up later.

I thought I should everyone know that I received my order from Adult DVD Explorer over the weekend in perfect condition with no problems. In fact considering this was a transatlantic delivery it actually arrived in fairly good time.

The same problems like mine. But now I can't even login to my account anymore.
Although I checked my Email and Password over and over again the site says:

"The system can not validate your credential. Please check your Email and Password and try again."

I think I won't even try to contact them via phone...

Hi,

I would appreciate that you contact me at webmaster@dvdexplorer.com or by phone at 800.394.7298 x150. I know this sounds like an advertisement, but we do have hundreds of customers a day and we have very few complaints. The biggest headache is getting items from studios that run out of some titles. We do have a large inventory in stock, and we tell you when we don't have an item. We will make every effort to provide good service and low prices.

As far as charging credit cards . . . we do not charge cards until we ship the product. If there is ever any problem, then we will immediately credit your account. Once in a while customers will hit the continue button on the charge page more than once and a charge and the order could be processed twice. We try to watch out for this and fix it.

Please call any time and we will resolve any problem you have. Thanks.

Have your programmers implement a onclick or onsubmit event to disable that button after the form is submitted. This will help prevent duplicate order submissions.

Although I already tried to contact you by "orders@dvdexplorer.com", and only got an automatically generated response and nothing else I'll try again.

As for "hitting the continue button on the charge page more than once": I did that only once, but I would say that it would be helpful, if the system really lists your orders as soon as you make them.

Anyway, thanks for taking care and I'll contact you.

I used to order from adultdvdexplorer a few years ago and had no problems at all. They had great prices and fast shipping. I just placed an order with them on Monday for the first time in a while due to the price of the titles I wanted being lower after their coupon. I will see how it turns out.

I'm never ordering from them again!!!...I ordered my movies on the 19th...and its the 29th and I still haven't got them yet they didn't ship the 2 dvd's until a week after I ordered them....and I paid for priority...I tried emailing them and I got no response...this was my first and it will be my last order from the... I should've just ignored the fact that they were a couple bucks cheaper than adultdvdempire and order for them like I usually do..I've ordered several times from them and had no problems....adultdvdexplorer needs to take notes from them...

I'd really like to order from dvdexplorer as they have a title i'm looking for at the best price & it is in stock according to their site, BUT i contacted them via email webmaster@dvdexplorer.com & orders@dvdexplorer.com inquiring about a backorder item and no response. I dunno if I even wanna try their phone, what with all the negative responses here in this thread. I realize there are good responses also.
Right now, it's like a flip of the coin. *sigh*

Drew Black, can you please explain to us what exactly happened with the "Pink Lady" incident, and their explanation? Or if XXXplorer would like to explain, I'll listen. It seems like a very shady thing to do. However, I have not yet lost confidence in their company.
Thank you
