Hi,

I have not bought many adult dvds for a few weeks and am about to order five or six from my usual supplier AdultDVDNow. However after just getting over them dropping their low price guarantee I did a quick price check to see if they still offer good value for money.
ADN used to be in the top two usually of the cheapest dvd suppliers in the price search yet on all of my searches they came up as the second or third worst with price differences of over $5 on an average dvd.
I discovered that taking into account p&p etc, by ordering from adultdvdexplorer, fivestardvd or even xonair or dvdadvantage I could make savings on my order of up to $30.

With the loss of the LPG I expected more competitive prices on dvds not the other way around!
This is a real shame as I enjoyed a good 12 months shopping with them! Is this because of price increases in DVDs, a more competitive market or greed?

Shame

I have never shopped from them but I have from Five Star and have been very pleased with the service, price, and quickness in getting me my order. Buying dvds has a lot to do with choices among them price, availability, customer service and for me I have found that Five Star does a good job at it. I also use DVD Extreme and have had similar success with them so I tend to use one of those two. Familiarity has a lot to do with it too and it seems you had that with Adultdvdnow so I wish you luck finding another supplier. I can easily recommend Five Star to you as they are who I usually buy from and also DVD Extreme is good although I haven't used them as much. I just got an order from DVD Extreme, Down the Hatch 5, and it wouldn't play so I emailed them and the same day I got a response with an RA # to send back with the disc so I am now waiting for a replacement which should arrive next week so I commend DVD Extreme for their prompt response.

AdultDVDNow always provided excellent customer service and good availability but when their prices begin to go through the roof compared to other suppliers, price becomes THE main buying factor. With fivestardvd offering 10$ off for orders over $100 and WOW super cheap p&p (I didn't realise $2.50 + $2.50 per item international), I'll be ordering from them. At these prices I may even order a couple of extra dvds!

Thanks for the heads up....

No problem, I am sure you will find Five Star very good on price and pretty good on selection too, although Down The Hatch 5 still is not on their site but other than that they are excellent, lol. Seriously they do a good job so good luck picking your favorites out because they likely will have it.

Flinty,
Just to make you aware Fivestar declare the full value of goods on the front of the package so if your order is above £18 expect to be charged duty and vat.

My first order worth about $30 arrived last week and I was charged £8.50 in duty and vat. The package was opened and examined by HMCE also.

Thanks again for the advice.

HMCE now have no problems with letting adult dvds into the UK. However the duty and VAT risk concerns me but at fivestars prices is not enough to bother me!
I also have read from this forum that 5-star have revised their packaging to make them more Customs friendly. I do like to keep up to speed with the best suppliers (esp for international orders)as I'm sure other people on this forum do!.
I have noticed that as I have grown older I have became more of a Value For Money Obsessive!....(just a personal observation)

Cheers

Flinty

Hi Flinty,

Yes, The ADN prices are a little bit higher than the others.

But their services are great!

I wish they could give us 10% or 15% discount someday. .
