I'm new to adultdvdempire and would like to purchase some of the older scenes, such as Devon or Briana Banks scenes, but does anybody know if there is a way of checking the exact quality of a VOD Download before committing to buying it?
I bought one VOD Download which was at 480p and good quality, but then I bought a second but it was only at 360p and frankly awful quality. Strangely the screenshots of the 360p VOD looked better than the 480p so I don't think that's a good gauge. I noticed too that the video quality in the free previews seem to be quite bad, even for 720p videos, are the free previews not an accurate representation of the VOD Download quality? I was thinking the only other way would be to buy minutes and then quickly scan through the scene to see what the quality is like before buying. Are those streams an exact representation of the download? I didn't want to waste my money on the stream idea if there's another way. Thank you.

This is the problem with Adult DVD Empire. The site will usually say if it's available in HD and specify if it's 720p or 1080p. If it doesn't mention HD, then assume it's 480p or, worse, 360. I've bought some individual scenes from there and they are in poor 360p. A waste of my money. I now try to give my business to sites that specify available resolutions up-front. AEBN being one of them.

I purchased a movie from AE, downloaded the 1080p and the bit rate was 2.5 Mbps. I think it's the studios not sending proper HQ source. I'll stick to BD and DVD.

^Let me guess . . . you purchased a scene for download and when you go to download it nothing happens and the page times out?

You can preview the scene full screen to get a reasonable idea of the quality. You can often see minor to major pixelation on 1080P VOD. 480P and lower are really variable in quality. Don't rely on the resolution to judge final quality, everything is compressed well below what mainstream films would be on DVD or Bluray. The 4K files seem to be approaching Bluray quality for the most part but bitrate is just as important as overall resolution.
