Hi,

Living in the area for a year now and can't find any good sex shops. Looking for vids and products. Amazing.net is OK but really overpriced, the bookstore in Chinatown is very so-so (and my wife hates it), and Good Vibrations in Brookline is a joke--a JOKE (especially if you've been to the one in San Fran).

Any tips? Do you have to go to New Hampshire or Rhode Island?

For reasons unknown to me, we have so few adult businesses in the Boston area.

Aside from those you mentioned, the only other one I am aware of is Instant Replay in Waltham. It is a small independent place for rentals and sales of DVDs. I wouldn't describe it as upscale or particularly customer friendly, but it might be more convenient for you.

There are at least another 1-2 "typical" adult stores on Moody street in Waltham, and an Amazing video in Dedham. There is also Tower News in Lowell, which has DVD sales, some toys, and preview booths.

Hope this helps or I hope others will enlighten us....this area is kind of a porn/adult business "black hole".

Thanks for all the tips - seems there are a few shops to check out.

Although, still, I agree with the "black hole" comment. Thank God for e-commerce...

I will agree that most of the ones I have been to in the Boston area have either shitty pricing or shitty selection. I buy mostly (if not online) from a local video store you might want to check out a few small video stores that make their living off of blue movies. These are not always used ethier.

LMAO! That's an understatement. One of the guys who work the counter at Instant Replay has such obvious contempt for customers it's laughable! I've gotten used to the abuse, mainly because Instant Replay is the best DVD rental place I've ever seen. They have a huge selection, and it makes it easy to sample all the latest releases by almost every studio out there. The late fees will absolutely kill you, but I'll bet that's how they make their money. If I rent 4 movies and keep them an extra day, that's an extra $8 in their pockets. Oh well, it's still the best thing going. There's no other rental place I've found that even comes close.

I often buy movies at Amazing in Waltham. Usually impulse buys of new releases. I pay more, but I get to see them immediately without waiting for an online order to ship.

Good to see some other ADT locals posting here!

Yep - good to see some locals here. I'll have to check out Instant Replay and be sure to return my DVDs on time. It's actually fairly near by where I work.

On another note, one thing about the Boston area that surprised me is the number of swingers' clubs. We're not swingers per se (my wife and I), but I joined a couple of the big email lists in town. There's a lot happening! Granted, I don't know anything about the quality of the parties, but I like that there's a scene.

Where did you find this out? I think it would be great to know just for fun too.
