Now that the Canadian dollar is doing well and DV-Depot hasn't stocked any new releases for months, I thinking of trying some US vendors. Based on research of older posts I'm considering a trial purchase with X Rent or Laser's Edge

I'd appreciate if folks could provide some info and make recommendations based on recent experiences with the US online stores and what the best shipping options are.

Also, are there any special instructions I should make for shipping? Should I ask for shipment without boxes, etc.?

Thanks!

I made business with Five Star and I would recommend it to you. It could take a while before you receive what you paid for if an item is back order but they always delivered
my DVDs. And look at the price of their DVDs. Postage is expensive though. Canada Post will deliver your DVDs to your door. Check out their site.

i had ordered from laseredge,

i choose the 1.99 shipping for unlimited dvd... but it took 3 week to get my dvds..they said it normally takes 2 weeks max

so i suggest choose a faster method of shipping, but you will pay more...

dvd came in an envelop and they mark the value very low, so no custom

i too used to order from dv-depot, but lately, they sux

fivestar and adultdvdtoday are the only I can think of that offer a reasonable shpping rate to Canada with the discs shipped in envelopes.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Might just have to roll the dice and see how it goes. I'll post a follow up once I pick a store and get the order.

Just a follow up to the thread. I ended up giving X Rent a try. They had the lowest prices on average and a reasonable international shipping cost of $4.99.

I ordered 2 movies RLD's Teenage Spermaholics 2 and EA's Perfect Specimens 2. Both movies shipped sealed in their cases in a padded envelope. The package made it through customs without being opened (yay!) and there was no duty charges. Took about a week from the time I ordered for it to arrive in Toronto.

All things considered, I'm happy and would try them again.

I've had very good luck with Action-DVD. Usually receive orders in a week to 10 days if everything is in stock - they ship promptly so the delays are in the postal systems.

Orders are shipped without cases in a cardboard envelope. They will ship the case artwork separate for an extra dollar or two is you want it.

Shipping charges are reasonable.

I just got an envelope from fivestar today and Canada Customs nailed me for duty and taxes. They deemed the 3 discs worth $67 dollars and I had to pay $15 in duty/taxes.
This hasn't happened to me yet with adultdvdnow.
I'm very surprised Customs opened an envelope, but then again, maybe if these retailers didn't list the contents as PC software or some thing along those lines the package wouldn't get opened.

that sucks. best way to avoid the charges is if the people shipping can put down the product as a gift along with a declared value under $10 US.

But doing that may put them at risk of penalties or worse.
