Just got my vacation and planning to go to Vegas and see the show. I want to ask the members some DO's and DON'Ts.
I'm a nerd and even worse, i'm shy. But i really want the most of the experience and take cool pictures with me and stars like some of the members on ADT.

I find myself in the same boat really. If I know someone, I can talk their ears off, but if I don't know ya - I feel I have nothing to say, making it hard for conversation. And that's funny too, because those who know me, know I'm a motor mouth
My best advice is have fun... Hang a little looser than normal. Hell, I haven't really let lose in Vegas. I still feel like I'm invading a personal space when I get too close to some of the stars and I don't want to come off as a fan-boy - if I liked a girl for her personality and got somewhat close to her in a professional way, I wouldn't want to be looked at as a slanted reviewer.
Easily put, I'm up tight.. LOL
Outside of having fun and letting lose, just try to be nice and curious - I think that works best .
Patients is also a good virtue to have, things can get frustrating when you stand in line for 20 min to see/talk to someone and they are whisked away by an agent (or who ever) or they spot someone they know and completely ignore you for 5 or 10 minutes...
So to sum up my ramblings! Hang loose, be nice and have patience
As to what NOT to do... Hmmm, be uptight, be an ass and be impatient Oh, and don't lose all your money at the casinos

just go and go relaxed the rest will take care of it's self find ADT members more often then not some of them will know some of the stars and introduce u to them :)
and finding a common group of people always helps the "Non-Fitting in/Shyness issue" abit :)
Bring a Camera as well with lots of film/memory and extra battery's as u will need em :)
and also ADT has a breakfast at dennys in the casino royale and a Party to help break the ice :)

Hello, i´m from germany. i was at aee in 2005. in 2007 i will be in vegas again. then i will also go there on wednesday, but i have still no trade-ticket. i´m not a trader or from press. can i get a ticket somewhere. or is it possible to register as a trader. how can they check it? i´m also ready to pay something more:-) if somebody can give me a card. who can help me
It's not really that difficult to "become" a video store. All you really need to do is to get some business cards printed up with the name of your video store and you as the manager.
yeah, i'm sort of in that class too- i've been to the show in vegas a few times, and i also find myself all shy and feeling awkward approaching the girls. i don't even make small talk either. i pretty much just walk up, get the autograph, have my firend shoot a pic, then say thanks and move on to the next girl. as for advice? yeah, it's happened to me a few times where i wait on line for a girl and have someone kill the line and take her away with 1 or 2 people left, or run an interview or something. so yeah, don't get too down on that, and yeah, keep in mind- if you like her, and you want to get a minute with her, there are plenty of others at the show who also want to, so the more popular the girl, the longer you can expect to wait. probably the BEST advice i can give- make a plan of attack!!! here on this forum and on other websites, you can get a pretty full list of who's signing and for what company. make your list, check it twice, then go to the convention's home site and check the floorplan. you can then plan exactly who's where and plot yourself out a route. the first time i went to aee was 2003, and i just wandered around. it was fun, but then i saw pics from the show, and noticed how many girls were there that i missed. so the next time, i made my list, checked it on the floorplan and when i went in, i knew who was there, where they were, and how to get there. i guess if you just want a laid back experience, just go in blind. but if you do have specific girls in mind, definitely make yourself a map.

I was once told this by another poster, and I never thought twice to have the gaul to try such a thing. Alas, here, Bill posts it on the forums.I see a couple bigshot photographers running around (well, often the same guy) shouting "excuse me, media...press..." while there were like 20-30 people in line ahead of him. Thankfully, with regard to their fans, the talent just looked at him with one of those "wow, what balls!" looks.

Fabulous advice. I can even add to that... :) In the show directory guide which is given out (there's girls handing them out near the entrance and stuff), they also will have listed appearance times of many of the girls who will be signing. While this will not be definitive, and of course is subject to change... it is reasonably accurate and a good place to start, especially if booths like Wicked, Digital Playground and Club Jenna are high on your priority list. You can get in line for Jenna 20 minutes before she's scheduled to appear, and have a MUCH shorter wait than if you queue up 2 minutes after she shows up.
Also - there's LOTS and LOTS of threads here on ADT from previous years where people asked pretty much the same question about how to make the convention the best experience. Do a search for AEE or CES.
Back when I used to go to the East Coast Video Show, it was an "industry only" event with no fan hours. So I "opened" my own video store and registered by mail. They mailed everything to me and all that I needed to pick up my badge was my driver's license.
A few years later, when someone who worked at a local video store convinced me, last minute to go down, registration was a little more difficult, but since we had planned ahead, it wasn't a problem. For on-site registration, they wanted a business card. The store that he worked at had some generic (no name on them) business cards, which we had brought with us for such a request.
Had the ECVS had "fan hours", I probably never would have "opened" a store. But, since it was the easiest way to get in, that's what I did.

Man, I miss those days when we had SOMETHING on this side of the country. What's it been, 5-6 years now?
I recall the NYC show, Tricia, but it fell the week before (or after?) Erotica LA, and I was already booked for the trip. Either way, it was fun to see what LA looked like, I'd never been there prior.
Only 3 years? WOW...in that sense, time is dragging. I guess what I meant is it'd be nice if there were something more in the Northeast, adding Tampa to your Miami as well.
By the time I got to Jenna Haze at this year's AEE, I was a soaked mess after carting around my bag-o-photo-shit all day long. She let me know it, too! I'm not around people much and I get super sick every year in vegas. buy like 3 tubes of airborne and the strongest bottle of vitamin c you can find
take the airborne 4 times a day, and take like 2000mg vitamin c every morning, wash your hands as much as possible and don't touch your face. The air conditioning will dry you out, bring chap stick.
and also like Jewel said, don't sweat on the girls.

As someone who makes my humble abode on the east coast, I found Vegas overall to be VERY dry. I was consuming almost about a half-gallon of water each day, and still found my throat scratchy (and my feet aching, but that's a different story...BRING COMFORTABLE SHOES!!).

all excellent advice Kami. I bring a humidifier with me for my room, cause I tend to get bloody noses overnight by the last night. Last year, I didn't... so I went to Target to buy one. Best $25 spent all week.
The ECVS went downhill every year that I went there. The first year, it was held at the Trump Taj Mahal. It was great. Girls were flashing all over the place and everybody hung out at the bar in the Taj.
The following year, they moved the show to the old Convention Center. All the flashing disappeared, but at least people were still hanging at the bar in the Taj.
After that, people realized that staying at the Taj Mahal wasn't really any more convenient than staying at other hotels and the partying spread out. Around then, I started going down as a day trip.
Then they moved it to the new convention center which is nowhere near the Boardwalk. The first one there sucked. It was the last time that I went.
I agree with Kami. Last year, I had a head cold just before I went to AEE. I was pounding Sudafed to in attempt to unclog my sinuses. The combination of the dry air and Sudafed made my mouth so dry on the convention floor, that the moment I finished drinking a bottle of water my tongue felt like sandpaper on the roof of my mouth.
It was a little better at the Circle Bar, where I avoided that problem by never having an empty glass or bottle in my hand.

Boy, I'm envious of this Circle Bar place...last year, I hadn't the slightest idea of it's existance.
That's because you never put your camera down long enough for your peripheral vision to kick in. You probably walked right past it at least a dozen times.
Actually, this year I'm leading the exodus to the Sports Bar/betting lounge down the way. Drinks are way cheaper, and the fanboy/CES geek traffic isn't so thick.
This, too, could very likely be true! Although, I have very little peripheral vision in my left eye anyway.
I think I saw the well-known steakhouse in the Venetian, but I didn't notice the Circle Bar offhand. This year, I'm thankfully in the 3S-lodging that is the Casino Royale (instead of TI as intended, but better than the 3-mile commute from Palace Station).

My soul is ripe for harvest, it's my wallet I'm much more concerned about when I start drinking.
The steakhouse is in the area with other restaurants. The Circle Bar is in the middle of the casino, within 30 feet of the escalators that take you down from street level in the center of the building.
I get them too, and last year I was like no fair, I didn't do any coke this year and my nose is still bleeding!~ I had no idea what caused it, thought it might be my noses natural reaction to vegas!
What the fuck no circle bar your crazy Skronker no way it was the highlight of the trip last year Swine stood up 3sb Gia jordan and kami and ivan it was just fun .... where ever you are skronker i wont be to far behind i enjoyed the crowd .
as for AEE last year was my first trip it was a blast i am going again thi s year and am looking forward to seeing the girls and the crew from ADT
make a list of the girls you want to see most last year i had made a list of about 25 left with about 500 pics and met more than that 25 this year i already have
Sasha Grey and Marie luv at the top of my list from there it is see all the girls i met last year

I had a blast my first time this past January. Although I never got to meet my Fav Jenna Jameson, I screwd that up. I didn't know how long the line up would be for Club Jenna, how long I would have had to wait in line and so I figured seen as i was going for two days, Sat and Sun, I would meet as many as i could on Sat and then just line up in the beginning on Sun to meet Jenna. She was not scheduled for Sun. But I met over 70 girls. Will make it a point to meet Jenna first thing this coming January...oh ya I am going again. But man the girls are mostly great. Given the fact they have been signing, taking pics for hours on end, they still are so down to earth, talkative and personable. I really enjoyed meeting fellow Canadians who are performers like the girls of Doghouse Digital, Lanny Barbie and Jesse Capelli. Ashton Moore was very down to earth, in fact her and I were talking about her last visit to Toronto to dance. Taylor Wane was a riot, talking to me about where she loves to go to eat when she has been to town, and Jenna Haze was fun and also just sweet. Asking her if she will come up here to dance and she says "Only if you promise not to throw Toonies and Loonies at me" which is what we call our $2 coin-Toonie, and $1 coin-Loonie. Right then and there she was my favourite meeting. Nicole Sheridan was like talking to someone you have known for years. Great sense of humour and oh so hot in person. As for meeting the stars you may never have heard of, just be yourself to them and talk to all the girls as regular people as they are just that. After about the 5th girl I met, the nervousness was not there, mind you I am not someone who gets nervous much meeting stars of any sort. They are just regular people to me.
Oh and if you are going solo like I have and will, people will take the pictures for you. I ask the guy in front or behind me and they do it, you will be asked many times as well. Some security personell at some booths will, some won't. Alexis Amore's security did, he was a riot. I do hope to meet up with some ADT members, I am booked already at the Imperial Palace for Thu-Sun 11th-14th. Will get there late Thu. Will got to the AEE Fri and Sat.
this will be my 4th trip. i'm also booked at imperial, hey it's pretty centrally located and pretty cheap for the strip, unless you stay further up like stratosphere and circus circus. i used to stay at boardwalk, it was a little cheaper, but when i checked for this year they said it closed down. oh well. hotel ain't important anyway. like my buddy says, you only need your room for the 3 s's- sleep, shower, shit. the real important stuff is eating. after the show, i'll just head over to bellagio and wait on line or the buffet.

The best advice I can give at this point, from someone who did it his first time last year...?
GET ON IT folks, it's now under the 2 month mark!! The longer you wait, trip packages will double in price and/or you'll get stuck farther away from the Convention Center.
My flight out of Philadelphia dropped $70 this week (after I purchased my ticket 5 days earlier, of course), but the price of the hotel I'm staying at is down under 50 rooms now, so as a result I'm paying about $80 more, also. Regardless, my airfare/lodging total was about $830, I also have a direct flight & my hotel is right next to the Venetian (even if not the "luxury" accommodations that surround it).
Granted, last year I bought my ticket one month before the show, and paid about $1020 for the package with a connecting flight from Allentown, PA to LAS (via Philadelphia). I was also stuck 3 miles away from the Convention Center, unfortunately, and had to shuttle to EVERY event I attended during my stay in town. It doesn't sound like much, but I want to sleep as late as possible before having to drag my ass out of bed for the show each day.

Hey Eric where you staying? I am at the IP this time. I am not getting my airfare ticket yet, WestJet has a seat sale here til January 31st so I am going to get it at the beginning of Dec, main reason is a buddy of mine may go. If he doesn't solo it is. All together hotel and airfare will be $793 cdn. Not bad for going solo, if my buddy goes will be $631. Stayed downtown at Vegas Club last January and paid for cab rides to and from the Sands Expo Centre and that added $80 to the trip there. Add in a couple of more cab rides to The Strip at night and I think th cab rides cost my buddy and I $180 as a total. I advise everyone to search for rates. I kept finding the IP for $400-$500us for the 3 nights and lucked out finding a site listing it for $281us. You guys in the USA are lucky to have so many airlines. We have the choice of 2 Canadian ones (Air Canada 3 times a day, WestJet once a day) and one American (America West once a day) and so airfares are where we get burned flying from Toronto.

JennaRulez- i'm not sure why you wait to get your plane ticket. If flights are so limited, you don't want to take the chance on your flight selling out. I don't want to sound cruel, but you shouldn't have to suffer and pay a higher airfare if this flight sells out just because your buddy hasn't or can't make his mind up yet. So I say book yours and let him fend for himself. ;)
I'm all set for my 5th year (how time flies). This year, I'm back at the Imperial Palace (can't beat the price and the location... and the impersonator blackjack dealers!!).
As has been said time and time again.. just remember to bring a ton of film, batteries, memory cards because you will be amazed at how many pictures you will take.
As far as being shy and not talkative... believe it or not, I am normally a fairly shy guy but, get me to the AEE and everything changes. If you don't open your mouth, who will? It's your one chance to talk to someone that you've been a fan of so go for it. They've heard it all so there's not too much you can say that will embarass you! LOL
Plus, after all these years, I've made some great friends (both in and out of the business) and it's become like a homecoming each year.

From Toronto there are 8 daily flights to vegas from 4 airlines. And they never sell out. On each flight to and from Vegas in January with Air Canada the plane was only half full and Air Canada has 3 flights daily to Vegas, May flew with America West it was packed, and they only have one daily flight to Vegas, and October we flew with Air Canada and again plane was 3/4 full, I had 3 seats to myself going there and 3 seats coming home. The flights won't be sold out, I can go on Expedia.ca and see the available seats on each flight, lots still there. Also if my buddy does go, hotel is split in half so I won't pay almost $800, instead just over $600. So 3 weeks is not long to wait. Also any Canadians going remember we need a PASSPORT to enter the USA by air starting January 8th, 2007. They only delayed the Land crossing til June 2009. I don't want any of us Canucks getting shafted at our airport as we clear US Customs at our airport right after we get our boarding pass.

when i first went, jet blue out of jfk in new york was $99 to vegas and $119 return. both non stop. next year it went up slightly, so i took america west and it was 99 each way, non stop. 2 years ago it went up a little more, not sure exactly how much. but this year was absolutely freakin insane!!!!! jet blue wanted something like 550, america west was 445, it was wild. their excuse was the rise in gas prices. my ass- i can understand gas is up and tickets have to rise 20, 30 bucks, but double and triple the price? i had to give up the hope of non stop, then i gave up on jfk. eventually, after 2 days of searching i was able to score non stop out of newark on continental for a little under 300, including taxes and all that other crap. as for hotels, i usually stayed at boardwalk for 89-99, but this year they said boardwalk was closed, so i went to imperial for i think 102/ night. it's definitely getting more pricey though. i was close to just giving up altogether this year.

What is even worse for us in Canada is we only have 2 airlines in Canada and they both set their prices for most destinations at the same price. And travelling in Canada? Some places here only Air Canada flies to so they have the price jacked up. As for the US, if I lived closer to Buffalo, I am a 2 hour drive without traffic, then I would fly out of Buffalo. But for me it is not worth the 2+ hours to drive to the border, wait in a line up to go through US Customs, possibly be told to park at the INS building so they can search the car, then drive to the Buffalo Airport. Just to save some. Then to go through it all again heading home to Toronto going through our Canadian Customs. Adding 4 hours to my trip for the driving I may as well take connecting flights out of Toronto for a bit cheaper if that is the case. One friend of mine flew to Vegas, connecting in Denver. His luggage got to him the next day. Apparently not all connecting flights will your luggage be put on your flight in time. That sucks big time.
Actually... this is incorrect. The first year at the old convention center was probably the wildest year ever. Trust me, I have photos and videos to back it up.
There was tons of flashing... pussy, ass and tits. I even remember seeing Mila get eaten out by a couple fans along with fucking her ass and pussy with a couple dildos and squirting all over some people. It was off the hook.
However... after that year, it cleaned up so much that it wasn't fun.

Being from Toronto where our winters are dry and getting sick with the flu and colds are common things, I never have got sick in Vegas yet. Although both times I went with my buddy, he did. Weird. I drink a alot of Smirinoff Ice it seemed hehe.

IMO, this is the wrong time to search for a direct flight. I waited & waited on mine for weeks. I watched it go (PHL to LAS) from $292 to $410 round-trip, than slowly retreat to $292. I stick at that...5-6 days later it dropped to $222, probably will fill seats. Last year, I paid over $500 for my flight alone, but I flew out of my home area. This year, I'll pay the $50 to park my Jeep at a secured lot for the 6 days.
Hotels are bound to get pricier as they have less & less rooms available. On the contrary note of my flight (which got cheaper), I watched my initially intended lodging raise $80 for the 4-night stay each week. I should have booked the lodging seperately, then waited on my flight. No biggie...it's Vegas baby. He who waits to long loses out, IMO.
J-Rulez, I settled on Casino Royale, who stated they have less than 50 rooms available as of last week. It's not luxury, but I only need 4-S accommodations (shit, shower, sleep & shave) to keep me happy. It's not like I'm bringing a chick with me, or anyone I need to impress. I can't imagine for the $540 (4 nights) I'm paying that the place will be a roach hotel, but I've heard worse. Last I knew, you'll have to book via phone, all their "online" rooms are sold out. Also, they don't deal with the discount websites at all, to my knowledge...can't complain @ $119-129/night (*subject to increase).
If you want to save money on things like this, it's always worth it. I'll drive 70 miles to Philadelphia for my flight this year. I did the same for my trip to Phoenix (in February) and ELA in June. Last year, I cut myself so short on purchasing tickets that all flights were high priced, and the difference in flying out of Allentown was only about $75 bucks more...not worth the hassle of driving to Philly.

I am lucky I waited for booking my flight, WestJet here just dropped their seat sale price, was $484 cdn return to Vegas Yesterday on Wednesday, today on Thursday it dropped to $408 cdn return. Just booked it. So the room is $325 cdn and the flight $408 cdn. Not bad. My buddy can book his flight if he is going, later, and we pick our seats when we get to the counter anyhow. If he goes the cost will be for me $571 or if I go solo $734 cdn. Not too bad at all.

Check your email, of course you're probably quoting CDN prices, but US Airways has a Thursday evening flight for $368 (US I'm assuming, not sure if I was logged in), direct 5-hour flight from YYZ to LAS, and return Sunday @ 11:59pm (red-eye flight arrived Monday morning).

Us Funds is right, same flight time roughly I am taking with WestJet. Converted to CDN funds it would be $430. America West/US Airways is always usually cheaper than Air Canada and WestJet to Vegas. Flew with them back in May to Vegas. See this is where we get burned is the exchange. Luckily it is only hovering around 15%, 4 years ago it was up as high as 66% Now everything is all set and now the countdown begins....

Well anyone from Toronto going, I just checked Air canada's web site and they have dropped their price for Vegas flight when i go Jan 11th-14th to $386 return. I paid $408 return with WestJet..last week i booked, WesteJet is at $405 right now. Seems to change everyday up and down.
