This is possibly the stupidest attempt at an educated rant I have ever seen here. "If it wasn't in these movies, it is unnecessary" This is, quite simply, an absurd statement on the face of it, and having seen all six, I will also proclaim that both Deep Throat and Debbie Does Dallas are exquisitely bad movies with as much erotic appeal as a used band-aid. Of course, it is the gift of sociopaths that they believe their opinions are Right and any dissenting opinion is Wrong. I know because I am a sociopath, and I recognize that the very first "porn pool Posting Idiot" to hit this thread was, in fact, its originator. Because, unlike Bornyo, my opinion is Right.
Personally,I prefer Debbie Does Dallas II(1981) to the original.Other early(pre-80's!)films worth mentioning are Teenage Fantasies(1971) starring Rene Bond,and The Erotic Adventures of Candy(1978) and Candy Goes To Hollywood(1979),both starring Carol Connors... Whether its 16mm film or 35mm it makes no difference, you do realise the difference between digital intermediate and telecine don't you , which again highlights my point. Professional film crews, ha ha!, you do have some merit there I must agree, a lot of companies need to really focus on creating rather than just filming. I probably came across the wrong way, what I should have said is that I'm not going to watch a film because someone tells me too or that you can actually learn something by watching a porn film.
I would agree that aquainting oneself with the fundamentals can always be beneficial for a person interested in cultivating a well-rounded pornographic eye. I can also picture though that something like Deep Throat might appear as partially or fully horrifying to the modern masturbator accustomed to the fresh, sightlier styles of current productions. And that is all the more reason for it to be incorporated.

Insatiable was one of the first two or three porn films I ever saw. Have also seen Green Door and Devil/Ms. Jones. I have seen enough rip offs of DDD and Deep Throat to pretty much understand where the originals were coming from. I have seen the musical remake of Misty Beethoven, I hope the original was much better. Of course no one ever listens to warnings on this site anyway so it is all a moot point.

Never seen any of them. Before my time. I've heard the titles before, and have seen them on the shelves of the Classics section at the porno shop, but I've never bothered to watch them. Plus, if I'm not mistaken, all these movies have "plots" to them, which is of no interest to me. Call me a product of my ADD-infected generation, but I prefer hardcore gonzo porn without the distraction of a storyline. I also don't watch porn for the "production values." If it makes any difference, one of the first pornos I ever saw was one of the sequels to Deep Throat (I think Part 3). I only remember the final scene in which Peter North gets a blowjob which, at the time that I saw it at a young age, completely amazed me. Does that count?
They did a decent job on the dubbing, but it is cut compared to the original there is at least a whole scene missing. And some of the translations are a bit weird, why did they change all names anyway? Jacco

well then my friend you don't know what you're missing. Golden age classics like Pink Champagne(1979) & Erotic World of Angel Cash(1982) had the basic of plots but also had some great & horny fucking. Cherry Hustlers's(1977) plot was probably equal to the sex in that movie as some of the action takes place in the cockpit of a general aviation Cessna, and yes Vanessa Del Rio takes a hell of an ass fucking from the movie's protaganist. I almost fell into the trap you did because of the humdrum video boxcovers of some of these movies. Alas when I first saw some of these movies on early VHS, they were still recent theatrical releases and not yet deemed "classics". So give an old flick a chance. You'll be amazed, surprised & sometimes aroused.

Yeah, I understand that most of the 'classics' are not being transferred to digital with the care they should, but my point is that the original 35 or 16mm film is of higher quality than a shot on video production.
Seen all of them. My favourite from the era was The Naughty Victorians, as it was the first porno I ever saw (underage). The DVD of Behind The Green Door looks a hell of a lot better than the VHS version. Gerard Damiano's movies don't impress me. I'm bumping this. I think I MAY have been trolling a little bit but the sentiment remains. What has held up? I agree with the post saying "The Story of O" should have been included in my original list. I wish the girls (and guys) were more into landscaping then but they are still seminal and pretty well defined the limits of what was erotic and not bizarre. If your tastes are bizarre good for you. I have mellowed somewhat and acknowledge you can put forth discussion about such twisted fetishes. This is different from my original position in the OP where I was favoring summary dismissal.

an art snob thats into porn. I think there should be more ass to mouth in movies. In fact, I don't even really consider a porn star, if she's not doing anal scenes.
I think a person who got into watching porn during the more moden era would look at those early movies and wonder what all the fuss is about. The stories were okay for their time but would see fairly hokey by today's standards. The acting usually wasn't that good overall even though I guess there were a few standouts. The story to sex ratio sometimes made it a chore to get through the movie if you were more interested in seeeing sex instead of a story. The pornstars of that era had a few hot standouts but many of the girls were rather plain looking and some weren't that goodlooking at all in my opinion. The sex scenes were very short and often didn't actually show much penetration. I think they worked well for the era they were made in and the type of porn being done at that time but unless a person is into that era of nostalgia I don't think modern porn watchers will be as taken with the old stuff as some are.
70s porn was popular only because it followed 60s porn. Anybody remember 60s porn? That's right, mind numbing softcore. 10 minute close ups of dude face while he gets a fake BJ. A naked Eddie Powers is hot by comparison.
I am old enough to remember seeing all those in the one porn theater we had in my town at the time. Even back then I was not a fan of plot in porn. At 15-17 years old I wasn't forging fake IDs and/or sneaking into the theater to see story, plot, crappy acting and cheesy music. I could get plenty of (and better) plot from mainstream movies. I wanted porn for sex, not some stupid story that serves no other purpose than to set up the next sex scene. Sure there are some of those old porn movies that I have nostalgia for, in fact I own many, and yes some even had great sex scenes, but I'll take today's porn over that old stuff any day. But saying that you HAVE to watch that stuff in order to even have an opinion on porn is pure bullshit.
