I then put it in my Panasonic portable player and it played fine so I put it down to my Sony player having a fault. Now I have read your message I will look into it some more.  [Link] |

I might try slipping in before hours to check it out :-) IT's weird I've tried to watch it witout sound and it's hard to concentrate on just the video. I probably will return it for another. [Link] |

This was the first I had heard of the situation. I've already sent a link to this forum to all those involved in the technical aspects of disc production for Private. As most of these people are in Europe, the soonest I can expect a reply would be tomorrow morning due to the time difference. I am having my warehouse pull some random pieces of the above mentioned titles from stock. I'll run these through various machines I have available and see if it appears that these problems are found only in batches or appear to be inherent in the authoring. Thanks so much for the heads up on this problem. I'll let everyone know as soon as have more info. Faron [Link] |

| Brett Member USA 8 Posts 5/00 | Posted - May 3 2000 : 6:38AM All Private DVDs have been playing with sound on my DVD-ROM drive. Older Private titles, including the re-released Pyramid DVDs, Tatiana (1-3), Cumsot Deluxe, Fatal Orchid, etc. play with sound on the Toshiba through the digital bitstream output. Newer tites (first observed on Indecency) are silent. I tried switching audio tracks on the silent discs, and found no Dolby Digital track whatsoever. The muliple language tracks are encoded as MPEG audio (to save space?) instead. It seems that the player passes this MPEG audio digitally to he receiver, which does not support MPEG encoding. Therefore, I think this problem will only show up for users of newer Private titles who have Dolby Digital receivers. A portable DVD player or PC-based player passes analog audio and won't show the problem. The simple workaround is to go to the audio setup menu on your DVD player and switch the audio outputs from digital bitsream to stereo analog. It's a small hassle, but hey, this is Private we're talking about! [Link] |
