Just kind of wondering what most porn starlets end up doing after they get from in front of the camera (excluding the ones that get into directing/their own companies, etc.). I'm thinking that with no union and probably not enough positions to go around at the companies they'd have to either go to school, or get regular 9-5's (similar to the musicians that you see on VH-1's "BANDS REUNITED" or "WHERE ARE THEY NOW") Do they cover up their porn past, or are they forthcoming about it? It's just sad that you have guys in the industry making comments like "I'd rather have a new girl than an old worn out one in my film" (as seen on PRIMTIME LIVE) Just goes to show you what some of these guys in the industry REALLY think about these female performers. Their shelf life is so short...almost like a professional sport......

I was watching one show on TV (I think it was "The Man Show" on Comedy Central, though it might have been something else) where some guys went on a trip to the Bunny Ranch. When they got there, they found that there was a retired porn star working there at the Bunny Ranch. I also know alot of them go back to stripping once they leave the porn business. Where I live, there is an independent newspaper in which alot of the local strip clubs place their advertisements (since I'm sure the major newspapers won't run them). But in their ads, you can frequently see these clubs advertising certain porn stars who longer do movies appearing at their clubs for maybe a week or two. And yes, there are even a few who become directors or start their own studios, but they're a very small minority. Basically, most of these girls stay involved in the sex/porn industry in one way or another. Some go back to escorting, while others you may still see making appearances at porn conventions, award shows, promotional events, etc. Porn is a unique industry in that once you get into it, it is very difficult to get out of it and go back into "regular" society. There's always going to be somebody who recognizes her as doing "that movie," which is a big part of what makes leaving the sex industry so difficult for alot of girls.
I wouldn't have a problem doing 9-5 and I don't feel ashamed of what I do now and I never will feel bad for it in the future. I heard on the radio that the average American changes jobs 7-10 times during his/her career. Most girls in this industry are very young and after they are done fucking on camera they just move on with their lifes. They had a good time, made more money that the average teenager, maybe even bought a house... Just because somebody does porn doesn't mean they don't have any other skills besides sucking dick.

Ok...just wanted to chime back in since I started this thread. In no way, shape, or form did I intend to insinuate that these girls have no other talents besides porn. Some of the scenes that you see in porn movies are being reenacted at frat parties and in dorm rooms on universities across the U.S. and the participants are taping some of the expeditions. So yes I do feel that some of the younger girls that you see in the industry that leave after 2-3 years should have absolutely no problem getting into the workplace and working a 9-5. They've had their fun,etc. and now they've moved on. The porn business is a form of entertainment just like the music industry...just like you can be recognized working at a call center as a guy that used to be in a one hit wonder group...you could be recognized for being in a porno. It's just the risk you take. I would think that most women would feel the way that Katja does and not be embarrassed about their profession. It's different than before the internet where your family and friends may not ever know of what you're doing. The internet makes your face available for EVERYONE to see. Someone's going to find out. I remember seeing former black porn starlet Meagan Reed on a talk show on BET a few years ago. She was on there going by the name of "Fatima Muhammad" and she was discussing relationships and how her's ended when her child's father found out some disturbing info about her. She wouldn't elaborate about what he found out, but this was around the same time that hidden camera photos of girls having sex at universities were being put on the internet and e-mailed, along with the females' phone numbers, addresses on campus, sorority affiliation, etc. There was an e-mail sent out with a scene of Meagan with Byron Long that went out around this same time (there were some fake photos being passed of as the university photos) and I can only assume that her boyfriend saw this. This was maybe in 1999....she's obviously no longer in the business and her relationship ended because of the revelation that she was a porn star. Basically, if you don't want someone to find out you really cannot get in this business, because your image will be SOMEWHERE. I personally am friend with (since high school) and briefly dated (in high school) a female that appeared in a VERY popular porn movie that was the inaugural movie to a very popular series that still exists to this day. I saw how after high school she moved to California, got into porn for all of the wrong reasons, and her embarrasment when she came back to Buffalo to attend college and guys on campus recognized her. The east side of Buffalo N.Y. is very close knit and everyone knows someone. It was only a matter of time before guys in barbershops and eventually her own family found out. We talked about it and she got through it and regretted not being up front. She now has a career in the armed forces and is married with a child. I saw how hard it was for my friend (who I STILL talk to) to go back to the civilian world after only doing like 5-6 movies...so I was just wondering what alot of them end up doing. She went through hell before finally getting her degree and getting it together.

Unlike most other professions, porn is an occupation that carries with it no anonimity whatsoever (other than the fact that you don't use your real name). Once you do it, it will follow you for the rest of your life. It's just like you hear about alot of these girls who get into porn because they think it will be a stepping stone into a legitimate film or entertainment career. It never happens. And as has been mentioned before, the money is good compared to alot of other jobs that girls this young can get. But, like with most younger people, the money gets too good to them and they have trouble leaving a job that pays so well. And of course, it is always possible that people in porn can leave the business and do other things. But usually, whatever they do afterwards is going to be overshadowed by their porn past.
For example, I recall reading an article in a popular magazine (can't remember which one) about "Shane's World." In the article, there was this guy who had just graduated college with prospects of getting a good job in his field of study. However, the company ended up not hiring him. Why? Because the company discovered that he had participated in one of those "Shane's World" movies where they go to colleges and record the kids having sex. The guy in the article openly regretted ever having done the movie, as he was having a very difficult time find work. If I recall correctly, I think the article stated that he even tried suing the company, though I'm not exactly sure about that. He also said that he never thought that doing a video just for fun would affect the rest of his life in such a way. Plus, the article didn't portray "Shane's World" in a very positive light either; it actually portrayed the company as unsympathetic opportunists who go around preying on vulnerable college kids just so they can make money (again, this is according to the article, not me). I remember the article poking fun at the way the people behind "Shane's World" won't even identify themselves by using their real names, but have no problem putting young (and very unwise) kids on camera for all to see. It was an interesting article. I just wish I could remember where I read it.
Although I've never actually seen any of these home-made dorm or frat tapes myself, I have heard several stories about them. And 99.9% of the time, the girls in those stories have always ended up either dropping out of school or transferring (for obvious reasons).
Before I started doing porn I knew ecaxtly what I was getting into. I told my parents and people how know me before I did my first scene - just to take away the good gossip material. If you have an open minded point of view on things and act like you have nothing to hide people tend to respect you, no matter what. I did never plan on keeping my porn involvment a secret, I was aware of thet fact that everybody I know can watch me getting fucked and I still decided to do it because I don't mind. I tell people who want to get into porn to think about that fact first before the start performing.
It's true that you can't hide and people will find out about your porn past but it doesn't have to be nagative. And also I don't think that going from porn to 9-5 isn't a step down the latter, it's just different

As far as me saying that some sex acts are being reenacted and filmed on college campuses...I wasn't aware of any being sold. I meant that the students are doing wild things just for the hell of it and filming for their own private use. I think anyone that has gone to college has heard of some guys running a train or getting a blow bang at a party or dorm room. Some of us have even had fun ourselves during our college time. (**It should be noted that as long as it's consensual I see no problem with these activities.....not so much the filming of it, but the acts themselves**) I've never participated in a gang bang but who's to say that I wouldn't one day? lol
Basically, when you have instances like the Arizona State University cheerleader that was doing porn on the side who got outted, bad things can happen when they try to go to the regular working world. I don't think that you should be punished for something that you did when you were in your early twenties that didn't hurt anyone. It was a choice that they made to get into porn but they shouldn't be punished for it. There are many people in positions of power and prestige that are doing some stuff sexually behind closed doors that would rival some porn scenes.
You should be able to work where the hell you want to and do what you want to whether you did porn before or not. I do agree with the other post that says that alot of these girls can't give up the money and stay on for the wrong reasons. There's nothing more disturbing to me than seeing a scene where the girl looks like she's not enjoying herself in a gangbang or DP scene, and in some cases looks downright disgusted.

i hope everyone would think that way, but at least here in southamerica there is a lot of macho shit and many women do not live their sexuality in a free way. anyway i love that you are so open minded and i am glad that your friends and family are like that too, i must admit that i was not a big fan of you because i found other actress sexier but you have such a great personality that it is hard not to feel things for you, your husband/boyfriend/lover is a very lucky man. thanks for always been so open with us, Martín
