I've seen his work and it's pretty damned good. The few times I've seen him post it seems that he's a little miffed that he doesn't get the recognition that he thinks he deserves. Simple solution Mr. Devoe. Tell West Coast Productions to hire a better marketing crew or you're out. Yeah I know. They're Black owned and you wanna show some love. All well and good. But you make some good shit buddy boy and if you want people to see it, they have to know it's out there.
L.A.N., I don't know if DeVoe should leave WCP, they debut some of da phattest black/brown who'es in da biz; but I agree to da nth that the brotha is a true artist. IMHO, he is the best black director in the biz.
(I have to qualify dat shit 'cause, like ev'ry line with all-black casts, the talent in his flicks seem to have too much solidarity and too little solid nasty fuckin', but I think that's largely due to da pervassive sexual repression in da black community.)
His "Black Ass Candy" line, barring the above issue, is always sure to have a few scenes wit' some good ass-mining.
I met DeVoe at AVN 2005. He was cool to rap wit'. Back on BGOL, I useta call him "The Black Jules Jordan". It'd be great to see what he could do if he could ever get off da "Chit'lin Circuit".

Personally I think he's a weak director but maybe that's because he insists on using Mr.Marcus in every movie he makes. He's also not very hardcore. His movies are pretty tame.
Yeah, Mr. Marcus is off and on. To tell you the truth, I'm kinda burned out on all the Black male performers from the '90s. But if you count the good Black male performers of this decade, who do you have? Mandingo, Lexington, and Justin Slayer? Yikes. That's only three. Of course you got the B listers, but ... Back to Devoe. I remember reading a quote from who I believe was Vanessa Blue, saying that interracial sex was hotter than Black on Black because on interracial scenes, they get nastier. All Black movie sets seem to be holding back something. Maybe everybody's trying to be too cool. Cut loose, dammit! If you want all Black, nasty sex, watch NJ Films' "Hit That Shit" series. If we can combine Devoe's camera skills with the nasty pig sex from "Hit That Shit", we might have something. Oh yeah, Justin Slayer's "Black Girls Get Nasty Too" from Evil Angel is dirty.

I don't think that black male performers are any weaker than their white counterparts. If you go by percentages, African-Americans make up roughly 15-20% of the general population. Maybe a little more. You named three top black performers (and there are more just off of that high position). That would mean that there would have to be 12-17 top white performers to balance that. I can't name 17 top performers, period. Most are just lunch bucket guys and unfortunately very few can actually carry a scene. I'm not an expert on Alexander DeVoe, but I do know he has an ego, which can cut good and bad. If it drives him to make better and more individualized porn, that's good. If he's just a legend in his own mind, that's bad. He doesn't just shoot all black video so his work should be judged along with the general population of porn. West Coast seems to get a lot of great women working for them and they've discovered some impressive male talent along the way. Is he really going wrong by staying there?
Wow, Alex Devoe, the black Jules Jordan, what a way to insult Jules Jordan. Alexander Devoe is probably one of the worse porn directors ever. And I use the term director, very loosely! He's the Sean Puff Combs of porn, he has a HUGE EGO, which is only matched by Sean Michaels and Lexington Steele. Alex, departure from West Coast Prod, would be a plus for WCP.

Last Action Negro, there are a lot of great 'new' and great black performers who should replace weak performers like Sean Michaels, Mr.Marcus and Julian St.Jox, guys like BOZ, Ricco, Prince, Nat Turner, Silvio Manta and Shane Diesel of course.
I like J Monty, Nat Turnher, The Notorious B.O.Z. .. would be nice if every studio had a stable of studs instead of wearing out the few men that could perform ... its like if John Malkovich was in every movie ever.
That's the whole problem with black performers vs white performers. There are hardly any new blacks guys compared to new white guys. It's time for more and new black guys with the energy of Boz.
