She just finished her final ophthalmologist exams, we havent seen us for years. She asked me, which movies Ive rented. ( Its a very uncommon video rental store, many documentaries, women movies, french cinema etc, but also porn - well hidden in the last room and separated from the rest ) Ive told her, that Ive rented 2 porn movies, nothing else, without thinking too much about it. But she dont wanted to believe it: " Caroline, you were so good at school and intelligent, why are you watching so primitive stuff ? Or is your boyfriend demanding it ? " ( I dont had a boyfriend for years..... And I wasnt sooo good at school.) Why is this cliche, of the dumb and unintelligent male porn consumer, alive and well ? For this sentence, you would need to use "haven't", because it refers to a situation that is continuing to this day (which is the case in the original post): "I haven't had a boyfriend in years". But I am sure, that I dont want to rent porn again." "Thats a pity !", I said very loud, and the whole store laughed. Then there is the male customer, who is only renting tons of porn for his neighbour, who has a strange leg disease and cant rent it for himself. One time, my video dealer told me, he had some interesting Region 1 (NTSC) DVDs for the neighbour and wanted to call him. You cant rent only stupid german porn, but also better porn movies, even if you have to search a little. Except from a few alibi titles, "All about Anna" for example, they are mostly presented with "normal" or tamer titles, women dont even dare to enter the XXX dept. Or they arent interested. "Porn is violence", is the battlecry of the conservative german feminists. Why arent they changing their motto in: "The world is flat"........? For centuries, people believed this too. You can only criticize porn, if you research and analyze porn movies with objectivism. And as much as I dislike the mysoginistic Max Hardcore or gonzo-bonzo-mumbo-jumbo stuff, lables like "Lezcuties","Seventeen","WICKED" etc.etc. arent violent at all.
