Am I the only one who's been getting "Server not found" messages right and left for the past couple of days? It seems like every other site I visit is intermittently going up and down.

Is it just me? Even ADT seems to be going down every so often.

Working fine for me, all the clickable links look kind of different though...

I think it may be/probably is. I wasn't sure so I just put it here.

Our hosting company had a major power problem last night. The site as up and down erratically late last night and again this morning. They supposedly have redundant diesel generators but their grid-intertied UPS system is what went out.

For the past couple of hours I've been tuning the database server indexes which will slow things down greatly. I'm done now so things should get back to normal speed.

That explains things for ADT but I've been having this problem all over the place. Hell, it even said "Server not found" on Google a few minutes ago!

I'm wondering if it's just my system or maybe my ISP. I just got a new computer a couple of weeks ago (with Vista on it). I never had any problems like this with my old computer so I'm wondering.

It could be one of your ISP's DNS servers is down. Sometimes a restart of the DSL or cable modem will fix that. I have that kind of trouble frequently with RoadRunner cable here locally.

I've had the same problem over the last week or so. Must be internet gremlins.

Sorry, megaposting.

I only noticed a few odd problems with connecting to other sites. Google for one. But that didn't last long.

Yeah. I restarted my modem (and my computer) several times, just to make sure it wasn't that. I've had that fix problems before but this time, it didn't seem to. Eventually, it got to the point to where I couldn't get on any sites at all. Then, it suddenly cleared up. Weird. I've had occasional problems here and there before but I can't remember the last time I had such a hard time.

I've lost connection a few times. Mostly what I get is truly crappy performance, though. That tends to happen sometime after 6PM, so I figure my net provider probably needs a router upgrade.
