I like porn but sometimes I would rather have the real thing. Going to a random place to have sex with a random woman is one of the choices I like to explore, but it's not that easy, at least not for me. And getting drunk to get some ass is out the question. So I what do is just hire an escort. The risks, I know, are high because of STDs and skin viruses like Herpes. Thank God for condoms. Maybe I'm the oddball. Maybe guys don't pay for escorts and strippers for sex. I don't know. I just get tired of saying, "I wish that was me in that scene". Hell dude, the real thing is so much better. How about you ADT? Do I have any oddballs like me?
^ A healthy relationship is one where both parties are interested in contributing to its success. Thus, there is a difference between seeing a need to improve a relationship and keeping score. When you start keeping score then you are more concerned about what you are getting than about how the relationship is doing. That kind of attitude usually leads to divorce, because no relationship is perfectly balanced at all times.
THEY had a great time. First-class head, affection, sex, sweet obliging minx curling up like a kitten to keep them warm throughout the night. And all I got was (literally) a t-shirt that is now lost and a conference mug, which I broke. I give entirely too much to men.

Sunshowers: interesting response...did you get affection, sex, first class head, etc in return...?? or do you base their response to your actions on what gifts they gave you...??

They call prostitution "The Oldest Profession" for a reason...men have paying for nookie since the cavemen days...
Gore Gore Girl: for what stating the truth...?? sweetheart ( if you are a female) I haven't been to a pro since the early 70's and have no intention of going anytime soon...yet your denial of a fact may be a direct result of your own insecurities...I'd love to know what your opinion of female porno stars is...
It's all good. Nothing wrong with enjoying porn or arranged sex or sex in a relationship. They're each just different. One doesn't preclude the other. Each can have their place in life. It's like sex vs masturbation. They both work. One doesn't have to be better than another. They can just be enjoyed for what they are. They each offer advantages and disadvantages. If you enjoy it, enjoy it....regardless of what others may think or do.
There's absolutely nothing wrong for paying for sex. The prohibition against sex for compensation is one that has been completely conjured up arbitrarily without regard for the two (or more) individuals who are doing absolutely nothing that is not allowed except the exchange of money. If it makes you enjoy sex and fills a part of your life you should not feel anything wrong about hiring an escort. And BTW, thankfully, you're far from the only one who pays for sex.
It's pretty obvious what my opinion of sex workers is to anyone who even vaguely knows me. I respect them, participate in activism to support their rights, and believe in decriminalization of sex work. How my opinion on sex workers has anything to do with the sexist suggestion that all sexual encounters with women are financial transactions because we allegedly demand tangible monetary items in exchange for sex, I don't know. Sounds like disgruntled men blaming women for problems that are rooted in an existing sexist system men ultimately benefit from. I don't care if you see prostitutes or not. I don't judge men or women who do. I have no clue what your "insecurities" comment could mean and I don't care.
You know, re-reading this I think I might have totally misread it. I think, because of the thread's context up to this point, I read your comment to mean all men pay for nookie in all their relationships - like, all sexual relationships are financial transactions. Now I can see you were merely saying to the OP that people have been seeing prostitutes for centuries, so no the OP is not the only one. My bad - consider my previous comments directed at those who think what I mistakenly thought you thought. :)

GGG...correction accepted...thank you for being rational, honest and understanding...sometimes the written word can be misinterpreted...I visited your website, interesting stuff...
Lots and lots and lots of people pay for sex in the standard Cash Money Directly for Nothing But the Goods way. You ain't the only one. Anyone who is more concerned about their money than their partner, or being taken advantage of by their partner, or how much they're getting from their partner in exchange, just doesn't belong in that relationship. They might not belong in any relationship. A relationship should be so rewarding that you're willing to give everything you have to your partner with trust that they would never take anything they didn't need and that they would give you everything they had and trust that you would never take anything you didn't need.
There is a vast mismatch between the sex drives of men and women, and that drives most men to pay (in many ways) for sex. In fact there is a scientific theory called economics of sex which says that "women collude - knowingly or unknowingly - to restrict men’s sexual access to women, all women tend to benefit".
^I disagree with your premise. Women may make different choices about having sex inside of, and outside of, relationships than men do, but not simply because they have less drive to have sex. If women did not face the social and cultural challenges related to sexual activity that are imposed on them men might just find that women have even higher sex drives than they do.
You're too kind. Leaving aside the paradox of 'unknowing collusion', let us begin by acknowledging that genes rule, in that it is our genes, not our conscious selves, that will go forward through the generations to come. Now, every mother knows her own offspring, so she has no reason to restrict her sexual life. In other words, she can fuck as many males as she likes, any child that she bears as a result will still be her genetic offspring (mission accomplished). The same cannot be said for the male. That being so, it is the male who has an interest in developing strategies to control mating. Say hello to monogamy and patriarchal religion, ladies.
