I don't know if working for Zupko would be a good or bad career move for you....I don't know the ins and outs of the industry like the you, or the other ADT forum users.
What I do know, however, is that Zupko is a rough and extreme orientated director. He takes alot of pride in his innovative directorial approach and he certainly manages to shock alot of people and create his fair share of controversy.
I , personally, am a big fan of his work and of yours too. I would love to see you in one of his productions.

I have never pulled punches with TZ or anyone really, but what I like about him is that he appreciates that. Anyone can be nice to a critic when they slobber all over something, but from the start, Zupko has taken criticism better than just about anyone I can think of. (Stoney Curtis, Max Hardcore and others could learn from Zupko.)

I got to meet Surewood at the interview as well. Nice guy and he looks a lot less scary with the goat chopped closer.

I'm looking forward to Flesh Circus and after that, if things go as planned, Zupko might show everyone he can make some 'just good ole porn' flicks.

This is why I would really think about working for him. All this I love everyone bullshit is just that. Bullshit! I also have trouble with Roger T. Pipe sort of endorsing him, because I have read every review that he has written on Zupko movies! To say that the reviews are not positive is an understatement!

Just because I don't like a lot of what he does or says doesn't mean that I have to slam him all the time. I don't know what you mean by me "endorsing" him, but where is it written that I have to kiss someone's ass all the time or slam them all the time? Zupko is very good at what he does. He's one of the best feature directors alive today. Does that mean I won't point out when he moves beyond sex and into things that the vast majority of the audience can't stroke to?

I don't like Andrew Blake movies, but if someone asked me who the makes the best pretty-porn in the biz, I would point to his work. It takes a little more thought and integrity to look at the work and not at the artist. You don't have to like Eminem to find yourself tapping your feet and liking a song. Likewise, it's OK to point out that there are a lot of John Lennon songs that just suck.

So there you go. I don't like a lot of the non-sexual crap Zupko does. It doesn't get me off. If you (Plural, non-specific) like it, fine. I've never said he shouldn't be allowed to make his movies. I can hate some of what he does, like some of what he does and above all, respect him for his talents. I can also blast him and still sit down with him and laugh over stuff. I've always said that Zupko fans and Max fans have less tolerance and less of a sense of humor than their idols. (Though Max can no longer take criticism without pitching a hissy.)

I like Tom Zupko, as a director and as a person. That doesn't give him a free pass and if he can live with that, why can't you?

I really didn't want this to turn into a fight, so I'll turn the volume way down and just say this....

I opened the thread to convey a message from Zupko to Amee. Perhaps I should have simply emailed her. I wouldn't consider it an endorsement, but rather the passing on of a message.

As for my feelings about Zupko and his movies, they are mixed. I don't know him well enough on a personal level to say what kind of a man he is. He is a person I have a friendly business relationship yes. My feelings about and reviews of his movies are mixed. He does some stuff that I don't like (So does Mason, so does Brandon, so does Jules sometimes and I still like them just fine.) but he also does some stuff that is IMHO brilliant. It's as simple as that.

Do I buy his 'turning over a new leaf' thing? We have to wait and see. Only time will tell. I know that if his second project is the way it is written, it won't be at all like some of the stuff you (and I) don't like.

Should Amee be in one of his movies? That's up to her. She's a big girl and if she doesn't like what he has to offer, she can turn it down. To date, I have not heard of any talent upset over the way she was treated on his sets. (Other than long hours.) I'm like you in regards to some of Zupko's 'antics', but as we both know, many people love them. As long as a director isn't hurting people or treating them horribly on set, I don't see any reason to steer talent away from them. That's just how I feel.

Besides, if Zupko does shoot the next project he talked about, Amee is one of five names I submitted to him for the lead. No spitting, no blood, no cockroaches, no religious symbols, just good old fashioned sex and lots of it.

Thank you for your comments and for your concern. I'm glad someone is watching out for talent and trying to make sure they get treated with respect.
