Let's say I'm a Devil's Film fan and I go to their website and "build" a custom DVD...say (for the sake of the argument) The Gauge/Starla Fox scene from Teen Tryouts Audition 7, coupled with Serena South and Jennifer Luv scenes from #26...perhaps coupled with 1 or 2 scenes from other Devils Films' series. It would be all wheat and no chaff, so it would have to be more expensive, else it would cut into their regular sales, I suppose. The scenes could be dropped into a simple DVD menu template. Nothing fancy, no BTS (but they could include trailers advertising their regular offerings). What do y'all think? Edited by - Rumpled Foreskin on Aug 9 2006 [Link] |

What you propose is a little more complicated, since a new menu system must be generated, but this is hardly unsurmountable. There are still glitches in the system to work out, but the day is near. This will make the economics of being a porn star really interesting, since the numbers will show in black and white who is really in demand and who merely has that perception. |

They certainly wouldn't put it this way, but it shows just how much of an music album is "filler." And the same could be said of a majority of porn releases. Of course, in this case Apple is the middleman. In my proposal, there would be none, it would all be solid profit directly to the adult production company. The lack of packaging "art" and fancy menus is a bonus both ways: it makes the regular DVD offerings more attractive and keeps the price low for the "a la carte" custom DVD. The biggest expense, as I see it, would be quality control. It seems that the people who bought the "Dirty Debutantes" catalog did this in a half-ass way. They made compilations by year trumpeting early scenes by Gauge, Aurora Snow, etc. -- but there's still filler in these compilations. I wonder how much they could have sold if they let the customer "build" the DVD?
