I was still under the impression that: everyone's pov is welcomed here, information and ideas are not "US or Euro-based", there's no majority who implicitly decides what's relevant and what's not there's no right or wrong when it comes to personal tastes.
Hurricane, keep on posting. Remember that you're not campaigning for someone or something and try to follow a few general guidelines. Since it's Adult *DVD* Talk, please specify when a movie is not available on dvd and post links whenever you can. A review is maybe the instrument you're looking for.
P.S. - I feel like I'm back-stabbing Saki by opening this thread. I thought about e-mailing him first, but then I decided to post this anyway. This is not an invite to a further meta-debate because, if all the above does not correspond to the truth, then there's no reason for debate. Don't flame me, 'cos you know what I meant.
Sbando Boy, I agree that he should feel free to post here. My comments in the other thread were not meant to serve as flames although I think a couple of you took it that way. In the last week or so, since the great debate (of sorts) took place, I haven't seen much of the "my porn is better than your porn" comments. Hurricane did make a few comments to that effect but I think his intent was to help expand our POV more than engage in a Euro-Porn is better than US porn (although I can see how some people might've read his comments that way given what's he has said this week). I look forward to his comments regarding porn in general and dvds in particular.
Personally, I want to hear all about porn dvds from everywhere. Perhaps another person was upset that the threads were speaking mainly about tapes rather than dvds-I have no way of knowing if the companies Hurr was talking about produce dvds at all-he never answered my question about them. Wally said that 95% of the movies by Hurr's listed companies were only in VHS format. Steve indicated that he had seen some and the quality was bad. Is simply asking about dvds rather than tapes now going to be taken as a sign of disrespect by some of you? Saki was correct to close the thread-I think some of us might want to read what is posted before flaming others though (and I sent W. a private email in keeping with the general terms of friendly conduct here). Exactly. It's a shame if anything vaguely critical or in mild disagreement might be interpreted as being a "flame".
I just feel that if people make posts, I presume they are interested in discussing the comments they make, good or bad.

Just in case I wasn't perfectly clear, the previous thread was closed because the thread became a "thread about a thread," and it would have been difficult to have a legitimate on-topic discussion. I'm glad to see the thread was reopened to accomplish that.
Personal preference is fine. Disagreement with personal preference is also fine. But as soon as either crosses the line, then it's going to get some scrutiny from the moderators. And as has been pointed out several times, this is not a free speech zone like USENET or a local street corner (depending on where you live). There are limits, so please exercise good judgement.

Not one German (Videorama, DBM) or French DVD. Illustrates precisely my point that -on ADT and in real life- US porn and European porn are two separate worlds.
I can't speak for VictoriO - those are his favourites. And to that extent, it is a matter of his preference and taste, and as such is not a representative selection of ADT members as a whole.
But you posted yourself about how hard it can be to purchase US porn in Europe (you don't mention where you are?) and the same applies in reverse. Depending on where they live, US porn fans may well find it hard to buy European releases, especially those by labels like DBM which feature content that has potential to cause US vendors some legal problems! They may only be able to get them, at a price, mail order. And that's if they happen to be interested. I should imagine that DBM gets little coverage in most sources of information about adult films in the US. So how do you get to find out about them?
(The same also applies to me in the UK. I can't acquire DBM or Videorama locally - not legally anyway - and have to either risk Customs seizure on imports or pay more from vendors who take the risk for you. Personally, right now I choose not to).
You are right - on one level. US porn and European porn are two separate worlds. But is this a bad thing anyway?
On another level, there's actually more in common. From many of the models you may see in Videorama productions appearing in Evil Angel's European productions and even going on to star in American made movies, to US licensing of Marc Dorcel productions (is it by Wicked?), there are more connections than you might initially think. US actresses are awarded at the Hot D'Or every year - though is the reverse true? Maybe Europeans are more open to American influence?
By the way, I am still not quite sure about where you are drawing the line between European and US.

Gabriel Nine, I agree with about everything you wrote.
All my comments originate from this one observation: it is wonderful that there is a review site such as ADT, but unfortunately it covers almost exclusively US porn.
Say a European reading a positive US porn review at ADT wants to by the reviewed DVD. Three possibilities: (a) The DVD is unknown, (b) You can buy it (post order) at twice the original price, (c) A company like MMV has reprocessed the material and put it on DVD under a new title.
As a European I want to read reviews about the typical porn available in Europe. Ahhhhhhhh, why isn't there a German porn review site?

No, I haven't seen "Fotzen Therapie". But this is a LATER release than the MP's I recommended, so technically it is certainly good. And the CAVR review (online) is very positive.

I vaguely remember Fotzen - Therapie. It is okay but there are better Euro releases. It doesn't stick out in my mind so it is probably okay but not great. I don't recall Venus getting fisted but I have not seen this title in a while. I am not sure if I can find it easily.

I just found the video and saw it quickly. Venus does one dp. This seems like a compilation with a plot added later. I have a regular Videorama video with the nice clam box. I am not sure if I bought it from Scott at xxx-imports.com or from 300 Book Center, but my copy from Nova and is not one of 300 Book Center's no-box special.

Shelby is also in Un-Natural Sex 7 and she is the only non-dp or dap talent there. She does a Point of View scene in Un-Natural #7, which really does not belong in the video given the rest of the scenes. In Initiation 9, she does dpp and dp with 3 guys.
