This is just an attempt by a porn fan to help studios reach their fans. Let me also state, as it might make a difference when reading what I'm going to say, that I like features and classics the most however I do enjoy all sex/gonzo and vignette titles. Over the last 10 years the porn renting and buying environment has gone through many rather drastic changes. I remember when I went in to rent films through a beaded curtain or saloon style doors and purchasing of them was usually done by asking the store to order in the title for me. I no longer live where I grew up however, the last of these stores had already closed by the time I moved and now purchasing and/or renting is done online and through mega-porn stores. I, like many, have changed to the online side. Not due to being embarrassed about going into a mega-porn store but due to pricing and availability of titles. That being said, it's getting harder and harder for customers like me to find out about new titles coming out. In the old days the stores would have posters up behind the beaded curtain for titles they were bringing in. Now often I find out about a title when running across it accidentally when at an online store or through entering in title information. You should help customers by providing them and stores with more information on the titles. I'm not saying create a website for each title, but adding a page on an easy to access portion of your website, with box covers, cast information, etc would be helpful for consumers. It's hard for us to get excited about an upcoming title if we don't know about it. And share more with sites like Adult DVD Talk, post about upcoming titles, even if they aren't done yet or don't have tons of information about it. Making midsize posters available to customers can help to. Many of us have friends that watch porn too. Also with changes by the government to apparently protect us from dangerous graphic images of anything possibly sex related it's getting harder to see boxcovers since many of them are still being made hardcore and sites are either not putting them up or blurring the hell out of them. It would be nice if you made softcore covers that could be displayed without blurring. Make the back as hardcore as you want. I know in the older days people looked at boxcovers and they were supposed to grab you with the sex acts, but the government starting holding black lines over anything they felt like. No boxcover being displayed is harder to draw in a customer in with than a softcore one. Also, list the full cast. Many boxes appear to only list the actresses in the film but leave off the actors. The actress isn't the only thing of interest, many viewers are interested in the actor as well as some can make or break the sex scene. Also, on the feature side, acting talent is important as well so it is necessary to know all the cast members in the film. Also, list the director. I've noticed tons of boxes these days that don't list the director anymore. Many of us are fans of certain directors and listing them can bring more interest to a title. Who the film is shot by or the director of photography could be useful information. For instance, I love the look that Jack Remy uses when shooting a film. For features, list the writer of the film. This includes foreign companies, region-free players that can convert PAL to NTSC are available here and there are customers that are interested in seeing foreign porn. However, since it can't be rented and due to the poor rate of exchange with the US dollar verses the euro the titles can be pricey. If there was a way to learn more about the titles you sell you might be able to sell more copies to us. Make your websites easier for consumers to navigate. I know you all have pay sites but when I go to many sites to try to find info about an upcoming title all I can find is a pay site and there is little to no information on your DVDs. Having an easy way to direct us to upcoming title information would be great, especially if it didn't cause 10,000 pop-ups to appear. Again, none of this was meant to bring fault to any company. These are just the thoughts and opinions of a porn fan who as a fan and reviewer has had trouble finding information about upcoming titles from studios. [Link] |
