I'd love to try out a chat service, and the people here on ADT are great. But one thing that worries me is privacy. ADT uses IRC from what I understand, and with IRC it is easy to find someone's IP adress. I'm not paranoid, but that simple fact makes me less comfortable. I'd like to be free to talk about anything I want without anyone being able to track anything. (However, I don't mind if the public chat rooms are being monitored to throw out illegal stuff, I just want the anonymity).

So I wonder if there is any way or anywhere to chat anonymously, preferably a place with a large user base.

It can only be made more difficult. I don't know about nobody ever being able to track another user.

internet chat? internet chat is a waste of time. the chat never goes in the direction you want it to. need to get rid of some sexual tensions? call 1614-447-2610 TWO dollars a minute. live chat with ohio college girls in the columbus area. I call them once in a while. I say give me twenty minutes. thats as long as I want to go. they give me twenty minutes. $40 charged on my credit card. they are reliable with the credit charges. they dont overbill you. the girls are friendly. the girls enjoy their job. no offense to any black people, but the girls are nice white mid western girls with dirty minds. I like to ask the girls about themselves. you can call a girl months later and if the answers are the same, then she's telling you the truth. I love asking them about their sex lives. I dont lead them. I let them answer. Some girls have some wild stories. And some not so wild. I want their stories of their sex lives as real as possible. I ask them "what do YOU like?"

Fwiw: Using mIRC to log in the ADT chat room, for example - if you use the /dns command on a username, it will return something about 'cannot resolve'. It does not simply return the ip number.

If this is foolproof or not, I don't know.

If you use the web based chat thing here on ADT to log in the chat room, I have no idea what happens if another user tries the /dns command on your username. Maybe Drew knows and will comment here.

Our chat room is configured to try to hide member's IP addresses from each other. However the IP addresses are available to the admins if we chose to look them up, which we rarely do.

There are ways that people can use IRC to track you down.

However, we do not state that our chat is an anonymous chat service. Our chat room is also not a "sex chat" room. If that's what you're looking for please look elsewhere.

Well, by "sex chat" what I was thinking of was chat along the lines of what is going on in the forums. Sex is the general topic so that was what I meant. I like the community here, which is why I was asking.

I realize that IRC is probably not "safe" enough... It's not that I have anything in specific to hide, I would just like the same anonymity that we have on the forums. If IRC can't provide that, then I'll just have to accept that. But thanks for the feedback.
