Has anyone checked out Extreme Associates' DVD for Thomas Zupko's Abyss ? I can't believe how terrible it looks...well maybe I can. I experienced the same pixelation problems with Extreme Porno Boot Camp . Just check out this screen capture...

The pixelation looks just like that whether it's on my DVD player or on my PC with Power DVD 4.0. I have the movie on VHS and it looks much better than this. The image quality improves a bit on the disc's second layer. Any ideas?

Does Extreme have a tech support e-mail address? They really need to work this thing out. I just don't want to see the same thing happen to In the Days of Whore whenever it makes its way to DVD.

It is a Zupko film...

but, I have no idea if Extreme has an email address, I couldn't find one when I looked a while ago. And still can't find one.

I would like to email them and tell them that they need to release more Whack Attacks and Flesh Pot on DVD!!!

I've had no problems with any of my DVDs from them, but I only have Lord Byron's work.

I posted a warning about Abyss on this message board a few weeks ago. I think it's the worst transfer I have ever seen (or close to it). The last two scenes are ok, but the first three suck really bad.
Ass Clowns #1 was better (but pixelation still evident), Attic has a very good transfer, The Cellar also has a pretty good transfer too. Compared to other studios they are not nearly as good, The titles I listed above are watchable but Abyss was the worst transfer from a so-called major studio I have ever seen, fuckin' terrible. I threw mine out, in the garbage where it where it belongs. I try and rent their stuff before buying or at least read a review to check on video quality. Of course Byron's are going to be done well seeing as how he's part owner of the company.

I too have had issues with Extreme titles. Not only is transfer bad, but on more than one title, the sound came out (or should I say didn't come out). Whack Attack #12 I ordered, returned, ordered, returned due to there being no left channel, only the right which plays obnoxious music. You can see them talk, just can't hear them. Too bad too... it was a nice Jenna Haze scene.

Perhaps rather than pushing the content envelope, they should consider pushing their quality control.

M.B. - I'm sorry I missed your earlier post. Still, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem. I've had relatively good experiences with Extreme discs in the past (such as the Whack Attack series) but these recent problems will make me think twice before buying any others.

It seems like they'd want viewer feedback...because they obviously don't invest anything on in-house quality assurance. If this is the best they can do they should really cut their prices. I've seen $7 discs that look better. From now on I guess we shouldn't assume that the DVD will look better than VHS.
