They're my favorite store to order from and now I'm very happy to see they're started showing the boxcovers right beside the new titles. I think this is a great new addition for the site and makes it more easy to order for me.

Hi Ramsey.

Thanks for the great feedback. We will have this new listing format completely rolled out by Wednesday. I'm glad you like it.

Despite clear instructions to ship just discs and artwork they sent my last order with the discs still in their boxes. The parcel was opened by Customs and I incurred import charges of £13.50 or $24.
Nice one Fivestar

It seems that your new site format defaults to showing the thumbnails of the boxcovers, along with other information. I found the link to hide the pictures.

Some websites somehow remember the visitor's previous settings. Is this going to be possible with your new site format? I ask because, although I like the new thumbnails, they take a while to load when on dial-up. They are nice, but not necessary. So it would be nice to be able to default to not having them load.

It is a nice improvement, it will be very nice if loading the pics can be optional.

Thanks

Hi willywilly.

When you click the "Hide Images" link, this setting is saved for your entire session. So, you will have to click this link once, but only once, each time you return to FiveStarDVD.com.

Thank you.

Hi the colonel.

I'm sorry your shipping instructions were not followed properly. Did you select Global Priority Letter as the shipping method for your order? That is the only shipping method where we remove the DVDs from the boxes and only ship the DVD and the box cover artwork.

If you have any questions, please email customer services at sales@fivestardvd.com.

Thank you.

um - ok.
I already knew that. :)
From that, it looks like the answer to my question is 'No'.

That's a shame, - your site used to load so much faster.

Thanks for the quick reply though.

No problem man, You guys do a great job and I would be even more happy if you guys would ship Goo Girls 11 and Big White Wet Butts 3 to me because it's been on order for 5 weeks now. I already got a reply from Michael Crofut about it but I'm still surprised it's taking this long.

Michael, understand that willywilly's problem is that the way your site is currently set up it is downloading all those MPEG's every time he goes to your site. That's no fun over dialup. Sure, being able to turn them off after the first page loads is better than nothing, but you should really use a cookie so he doesn't have to go through the same exercise every time. Alternately, you could add a 'text only' Enter button on your home page.

Exactly.

And is that it? - a cookie? I wasn't 100% sure that was how it is done, so I didn't say it.

Thanks.

There's an idea I hadn't thought of or considered.

I think I like the cookie better though, because usually I just type in www.fivestardvd.com/new_release.asp , because that is the page I like to have a look at first, and - - no surprise here :) -- it saves me the time of loading the home page first.

Most likely, whoever implemented their changes never considered dial-up visitors to their site. I suspect we are a shrinking minority, so I understand. Just wanted to call attention to it, in hopes that an easy solution would be available to them. I have no idea if implementing cookies to do it is a big time consuming chore for them or not. I hope it is not.

We are using cookies to track whether or not you want the thumbnail images displayed on listings. However, it is a session-based cookie which only persists while you are shopping on Five Star DVD. Once you close your browser window or leave Five Star DVD for at least 15 minutes, this session along with the cookie is ended.

I for one am not impressed with fivestar as of late. I placed an order one week ago today. It still hasn't shipped.

What's the usual ETA on shipping to Canada for Fivestar? I usually shop Lasersedge but always looking for other distributors.

Hi ricorocco.

Global Express will usually arrive to any Canadian location in 3-5 days. Global Priority or Global Priority Letter is a couple of days slower.

Refer to our shipping page for more info:

Thank you.
