Movies directed by Frank Thring are also very good. I don't like so much stuff directed by Kovi, although it's still very good compared to porn made by the other companies. The sex is very good, but I think the movie lacks due to the dubbing. I like to hear the conversations in plot based porn (which a lot of Woodman's stuff is) and instead of translating the entire movie, a narrator gives little summations every now and then. There aren't even English subtitles so I could read them. Every now and then I give him another chance (since I want to see the rest of The Pyramid and some of his other stuff I've heard so much about) but overall, I avoid him. [Link] |

The masters are really old and there is many scenes shot in poor technical conditions (for our actual standards). By the way, we will release a some new compilations of the best scenes of the Triple X, Private Stories and Private Video Magazine under the name of "Private Lust Treasures". Slow motion can totally kill the heat of a scene and Private is becoming famous for showing almost an entire scene in slow motion(i.e the Penthouse titles). Dubbed sound. Dubbing during a sex scene is a serious no-no to me, if it's a classic porno it's expected because that's how things were done at the time, but in this day and age there's no excuse for it. [Link] |

Especially the scene from Fashion (Kate More and Sophie Evans by a pool with Franco Roccaforte) is very obviously dubbed. Actually, it sounds very funny if you appreciate that kind of humor. I've found the scenes to be too "hollywood" and the language barrier to be too hard to follow in a movie. The overdubbing just comes across as really fake. As far as their DVD's I find it hard to promote them as a good product. Obviously there are more released on VHS so they must be better overall. Houston Don already pointed out their production value, it is VERY high. Too high if you ask me. Some of the camera's even use softening filters. The hollywood effect stated above. Posted by John D. To be honest I wasn't very big on Private before DVD. I own several Private VHS tapes and have rented numerous others in the past and the dubbing was usually a turn off. But I'd rather watch a dubbed movie by Private than anything put out by Vivid or any of those 'glamour' studios. Personally, I recommend the Private Penthouse line and the Pirate Video Deluxe Line (Tanya Hyde's stuff especially). Their other lines I usually go by the women in them...I've had good luck with the Black Label line too and I've heard good things about the Virtualia (sp?) line, but am waiting (somewhat patiently) for my favorite online store to stock them...
