The next few days should tell because I am expecting a couple of orders through. The titles that were confiscated were 2 Puaka dvd's that were not in my opinion "dodgy" but Dover Customs are a pain in the arse now.

I was seriously thinking of writing to UKCE to find out what their policy for importing adult material was i.e. is it up to the individuals judgement on what is deemed obscene or do they have written guidelines. Then I had second thoughts about opening a can of worms and held off.

Anyway, I hope my next orders arrive safely and I will keep you informed how things turn out.

In my case, I waited a little while then it was ok but it started again later after one title was seized.

I haven't ordered any adult videos from the US since sept 11th however and I also never ordered from Europe.

Sorry to hear that your situation. Happy to let you know that I'm probably the other person from Ireland on this board, besides yourself. So far in the past, I've ordered from FiveStar and AdultDVDNow, but I've not ordered from EroDVD from the numerous posts about mishapped customs inspections.

I don't know about you, but customs inspection seem to be very frequent and strict to me since after 9/11. So far, my packages from the US/Canada have been opened, and they're packages containing mainstream magazines - eg. National Geographic, Scientific American - and usual hollywood DVDs. There's usually a Customs resealing tape across the top of the jiffy baps or envelopes indicating it was opened by customs. Seems that customs are pretty anal nowadays.

Now that you've mentioned it...... do they really monitor names and addresses? Lately, I've been ordering alot of 'normal' stuff from the USA, and more often they've been opened....... hmmmmm.........

I'd suggest in the future that you shipped your orders by DHL/UPS/FedEx.... saves you the trouble and worries and money if the items were confiscated.

Here's a thought...... if you wanna order something by courier, and want to save from the expensive service at the same time, either of use can order for 2. And then when one of us receives the delivery, he can always send it out locally to that person easy without customs. But...... trust would be an issue here. Anyways......

Nope that you're delivery eventually turns up - hey, at least you don't have to go to court! Now, that would be a REAL PAIN!

Anyway, just to let you know, and all the other posters and readers, is that I finally got word from the "Authorities" concerning my "letter/packet selected by customs for routine examination ". This was dated 21st March and I only got the notification that they had "confiscated it" on the 8th of May. Talk about bureaucracy!

Also, of note, they state that "2 pornographic DVDs" were inside -- not spelling out the individual titles, like previously -- whereas, there should have been three, according to what I ordered. Hmmm!!!!!

I haven't ordered in a while, and after reading your comments, Justin, I'm wondering if ordering from the U.S. may be such a good idea (at least for the near future)?

I'm also in Ireland and recently received the notification that a letter/packet was going to be inspected. I'm now expecting it to be confiscated.
It was one Private DVD from erodvd with no case or inlay card - just the disc. What titles did you have confiscated?
According to erodvd, they are not allowed to confiscate Prvate titles (even in Ireland apparently).
