How's everything since I've been away? I hope you are alright over there in the Valley. I just though I bring a smile on your face by telling you what happend to me lately:

I'm back in Germany a week now and it is totally fucked up. Today, I was on my way to the office, a guy on a bicycle almost hit my car and then he followed me thru the whole city (don't know how the hell he could keep up with me). He started knocking on my car window on every red light, almost broke the glass - finally he tried to open the door to do whatever with me. He was yelling at me all the time something like "I sue you for that..." this idiot blamed it all on me, I couldn't believe it... he scared the shit out off me. I'm so glad I could get away.

An other thing is that the police confiscated all my porn movies that I had shipped to Germany. First they wanted to investigate against me (I was like: "Oh my good, who's gonna visit me in jail???") but now it seems that they are only going to destroy the pornographic material. Later I was told that if I had declared the whole thing as a present they wouldn't have opened it at all. This is the German way: you can possibly ship in explosives or guns if it's a birthday present for your grandma. Nobody seems to give a damn shit as long as you make the cross at the right place.

I am so furious about it I want to pack up my stuff and move to another country, no matter where... I feel I need another passport, too!

there are no anti porn laws (at least as long as normal pornography is concerned) in Germany. What we are talking about, right here, right now, is youth protection laws. German government still thinks that the only way to protect a minor aged person from porno is to not allow the shipment of porno via mail to any private house or flat. Their fear is, that even when the adressee is an adult person, there might be minor persons (i.e. like the children of the adressee) who could open the envelope/the parcel and see things they shouldn´t see.

So, the discussion would be, whether or whether may not this laws still make sense nowadays. Hmmmmmmmmm, compared to the easy internet access to pornographic material of all kind, I´d say there is no sense in these laws anymore.

Would that possibly change if a public discussion would arise? First of all I think you are overestimating the "power" of the TV-show "Wahre Liebe". Of course, the show is still being watched (otherwise it wouldn´t be around anymore....), but it is a show people rather smile about than taking it serious in any way. So IMHO a discussion opened at "Wahre Liebe" would rather be impeding to the matter itself.

What I think is that the European Union is the key to that subject. That´s because due to the European Union and their aim to make laws in all these countries as equal as possible, sooner or later the German youth protection laws will have to be changed in order to reach the standards that already are given in the Netherlands, in Belgium, in Sweden, and so on.
