They are totally freaky. But I must say that I've been very pleasantly surprised by the prettyness of the women, their apparent enjoyment of the most humiliating things, and the strange plots and production values of the whole thing. What is up with this company? Are the women who star in Simon Thaur's films famous porn stars in the European fetish circuit? Or does Mr. Thaur simply pick people up off the street? (and if its up off the street, what street is that, because I want to go there?). At any rate, I'd be interested in learning anything people know about the history of Subway/Kit Kat, where they get their talent, and the new directions that the company is going, etc. [Link] |

People reading this post may find this revolting, but the interesting thing about Thaur from a sociological perspective was that even the most extreme elements of his scenes (such as pooping into women's mouths used in Berliner avantgarde extreme movies), was used as a mechanism for demonstrating the S&M power dynamic between the dominant males and the sub females. The scenes also featured a lot of anal sex, which is rare for scat-type movies that generally don't have any sex at all (just fat hairy German dudes wiping fake scat all over themselves and skanky 60 year old women, which is totally revolting from my perspective). Thus, although Thaur's movies often get lumped in with many of the scat and pee fetish movies produced by a variety of low quality euro studios, the difference couldn't be more pronounced. Thaur's movies did not focus on the sex-less fetishization of unsexual bodily functions. Rather, his movies constructed an entire universe of extreme hyper-sexualized S&M dynamics in which sub women sought to eat their masters shit, run around naked in the middle of cities, and engage in extreme anal sex in dungeons, primarily as a mechanism for exploring their "sub" nature rather than as simply as a job undertaken to make a buck. The fact that the girls in his movies were some of the most extreme S&M subs in the European fetish dance club scene, recruited from the caverns of the infamous Kit Kat Klub that Thaur himself founded in Berlin, lends a very different energy and air of authenticity to Thaur's movies. This may be devolving into hyperbole, but I have always had the feeling that if the Marquis de Sade had lived in Europe 20 years ago (instead of 200+ years ago), that he would have made movies very similar to Thaur. On the surface his movies may seem off-putting, but I challenge all of you who thought you would never like extreme movies of this type to actually watch Thaur’s material. He successfully connects in to (and takes to a new level) the S&M dynamics (male dom, female sub) at the heart of most of the most successful porn that exists today. You’ll find it mind-blowing. The pity of it all is that even as he was at the height of his game, Thaur unexpectedly quit making movies and now I think runs a trance band. Strangely, it doesn't seem like anyone has yet picked up Thaur's banner by making more of the distinctive movies Thaur pioneered. Thaur was controversial like any pioneer, but he was the most innovative director of his generation. He is sorely missed. [Link] |
