There is the bright light hearted kind which aspires to evoke the best angels of our nature by featuring two beautiful people making love. However, there is also a darker side to the male fantasy world. A side which revolves around the use and exercise of power over others in a nietzchian sense. Its pointless for us to deny this element of our beings, and I respect porn directors who are fully honest with their attempt to satiate this dark side. There are always debates about which director is the most innovative (or crazy?) in this regard. Personally I'd nominate Simon Thaur for the most depraved (but interesting) porn guy in the world. He seems to press the limits and push porn into new areas more than anyone else on either side of the Atlantic: Nearly every single scene in every movie has: 1) Dominant scary looking men and beautiful sub women In a word, he presses the limits, but he presses the limits artfully. The man almost reminds me of the Marquis de Sade. He revels in pure and utter indulgence of the most sadistic habits imaginable, but somehow he manages to turn his exploits into a sort of poetry (though admittedly a very strange sort of poetry). He's a post apocoliptic porn meastro, and its strange that he hasn't been more widely heralded. At any rate, thats my nomination for the most creative (ahead of his time) porn director in the world.
