I have found recently that, despite a glut of new scenes coming out everyday, many of them just aren't that exciting. I see some performers continuing to do a great job and giving it their all but something is just off. I think part of the problem is that even though there are plenty of big names out there, the flow of new scenes or scenes showing us something new are really scattered. It often doesn't feel like performers are building careers, with new firsts on the horizon, or doing scenes that help me connect with them as people or characters in a story. I also think there are a lot of new performers coming into the industry but there are so many that none of them are getting to the opportunity to become stars. Leana Lovings is last year's breakout sensation and yet I feel like I hardly ever see her these days. Kayley Gunner should be one of the top industry stars and yet she doesn't do a whole lot. And then there are a ton of really good performers who are not given nearly the opportunities they should be like Vanessa Vega, Giselle Blanco, and Vansessa Sky. The only performer I see out there getting the superstar treatment is Blake Blossom and at this point it's an insult that she hasn't been offered a showcase. Since Kenzie Anne is gone, Blake is probably the bes the industry has to offer in terms of emerging talent.
I mean is anyone else feeling this? Like even though there is so much stuff out there, so much of it just feels bland and missing the wow factor or is just dumb like literally anything that Brazzers makes these days?

Very disappointing times for the porn industry. Wonder if things will ever get better. So many women go the OnlyFans route. The 1990's and early 2000's were much better. I've watched porn longer than most here have been alive (since the late 1970's). I've seen so much over the years that nothing is exciting to me now. All the women I enjoyed watching have left the business now. Time will tell where it goes from here.
I know what you mean, though I think things have really only gotten bad in the last few years. We still had some really great porn and pornstars before then. Romi Rain was an absolute star in my book. Same with Alina Lopez, but as usual they went the OF route and we basically lost them.
Who do you think are the best pornstars from 1990-2004 I should go back and watch?

Porn, as we know it, is on its last legs. Everything changes. I have no idea what these changes will be, but I'm willing to bet that they'll be for the worse.
I'm feeling the same way, but maybe not with scenes - just not a lot of new girls that excite me, the ones that do have really short careers like Mina Moon, Jamie Jett, Nicole Sage. Granted there are still active performers that I look forward to like Anissa Kate, Reagan Foxx and relatively new comers like Freya Parker, Armani Black
I would say OnlyFans is a major contributor to the decline, easy piracy and MindGeek as well. I also feel that a lot of these new girls have tattoos that I'm just not a fan of.
I find myself often just watching older scenes of girls that are no longer in the industry, moved to OF only, or before they got a bunch of tattoos all over (Keisha Grey, Sarah Vendetta)
There are a few things that have really killed studio porn for me and most of them are to do with aesthetic decisions. The weird pinkish / orange filter or effect that makes skin look like salmon - looking at Brazzers and RealityKings specifically. I love Angela white, but I can't stomach her Brazzers' scenes.
The scenes that look like they're shot on mobile phones in a basement - looking at Blacked / Tushy Raw and all the clones.
The allegations of abuse, non-payment, STIs and doxxing that are driving smoking hot women who want to perform out of the business before all their holes have been tapped.
Having said all that, there are some great amateur performers out there with their own streaming channels, like Danica Mori. I'm also loving Owen Gray's Deep Lush work.
I was glad to read this thread because that's something that I've been thinking about for a few years now and while I can see why some of you think they way you and you may be right but I have a different take on why the porn industry is the way it is now.
Let me first preface that I still believe that tube and torrent sites are the greatest culprit for why the industry is the way it is but normally I would that it's because you can find the current stuff uploaded not long after it's available to us paying members but I now have a different take. It's not so much that the new stuff is on those platforms that's causing the problem. It's the fact that so much of the older stuff is still on those platforms and sadly for new porn. The older stuff is superior to what they make today so why would anyone waste their money buying a membership to a site that produces subpar porn when they can what better stuff on tube sites. I have Terabytes of porn already saved on my drives and while I still join a couple of sites. More often than not it's the older stuff that I gravitate towards.
New (good) talent behind the camera is also probably a reason.
A lot of the current directors are the same individuals who have been shooting for decades. It's not unexpected many of them lose some of their passion, creativity and view the job only as a paid work day and want to go home ASAP.
Eventually there's no new ideas or due to budget cuts and groupthink producers, aren't given the green-light to try new things.
Then there are new directors who are either former performers who can be hired for cheap or nobodies with their own bag of cash who never took photography and cinematography lessons so all they know is point and record.

Girls not spending much time in the industry because they are leaving for OF
The are no superstars anymore (apologies to original poster and Blake Blossom) where as previous decades had multiple superstars that became all-timers. Probably no one in the past five years is going to be an all-timer.
Companies beholden to stupid trends (the free us fantasy crap is just that, crap as is all that dumb sibling porn)
And generally scenes now just feel lacklustre and go through the motions boring with performers barely engaged with each other
When is the last time you've actually seen someone sweat in a scene?
Robotic sex Lack of chemistry Non intimate sex becoming more of the norm Lack of true queens Oversaturation Poor filming quality Distracting male talent
I remember going to a strip club and seeing Amber Lynn dance, way back when she was in her prime. She then took pictures with people and played it up. She owned that room. I can't picture the talent of today doing that. When I think back to older porn and the queens then, they sucked you into the scene. Today, it's like most of the talent is just trying to get through the scenes, check the boxes. But I'm probably a bit different than a lot of viewers. I always have looked at a scene as, would I want to be with that girl, would I want to be doing that with that girl. I don't think most of porn is made that way anymore.
^ Well, but in this case, their algorithm is probably a simple? "What is the latest trend? (or what are the pornhub top searches?) Let's produce hundreds of scenes with the same theme".
And don't get me started on all the "Step-" stuff. In one of the latest Family Guy episodes, Chris summed it up perfectly: Who calls their porno "Man and Woman Having Standard Sex"? You got to work the algorithm, man. You need keywords like "stepsister," "stepbrother," "stepmom." Just put "step" and a noun and it should work. Even "stepladder" is getting traction these days.
After "step" now comes the "Freeuse" porn, and the "Stuck" porn. (and coincidentally, I think I already saw one where a girl was "stuck" on a "stepladder" (and couldn't get back down)...
I would also reiterate that the day porn producers thought it was a good idea to have people fuck on film without reacting (no moaning, pleasure, reaction etc.) is the day porn officially jumped the shark. It's like the porn industry decided to do itself in by going away from what porn's mission is AND laugh at its customers.
That free use stuff is some loathsome, idiotic content.
Whoever had that idea should be found and dealt with.
Also, I've been watching some masturbation scenes where the girl is not even wet despite using a toy.
If a porn producer can make a scene and doesn't even care if the girls is wet (use lube to fake it for christ's sake), why should I care one iota about an industry that can't be arsed to give a damn.

Personally, I'm waiting for the day I can watch a scene of a Step-Brother fuck his Step-Sister free-use style while she's stuck in a dryer with a dry pussy and with shitty lighting.
At that point, the whole porn industry will collapse in on itself like a giant black hole.
Hopefully, then the porn industry can reboot itself with better content.

Let me add this:
I use IAFD to check up on what new scenes have come out. Today when I checked I saw that Team Skeet had 28 new scenes listed (and by new, I mean they were listed as having a 2023 release year).
Out of those 28 scenes 25 of them were listed under their freeusefantasy.com studio. 25! Does the porn world need 25 new free-use scenes, let alone from just one studio?
And this leads me to why things are off: repetition
As talked about by Buck, why is there so much of them same thing in porn
Porn has always been a copycat and repetition-based model, I get that but in the past 5 years the business just milks a trend blindly with no hint of originality and we as consumers keep consuming just as blindly.
We are also culpable in making current porn feel a bit off because we tacitly encourage production of bland, repetitive porn by purchasing it. The porn companies (and pornstars) know that they just have to put an attractive nude girl in front of the camera and we'll buy it, performance, production values etc. be damned.
yeah its getting worse and worse , mainstream porn is 95% unwatchable with awfull camera work, poor scenarios, low talent level.
if they at least copy porn from 2010era but its significantly worse. .we dont even have good step mom, teacher, maid, secretary scenes
at least i have good collection from old good days ..i dont remember when was last time i was excited for upcoming scene lol.. last good gonzo scene was sheena shaw anal comeback lol and that wasn't mainstream production, she did sell right afterwards to evilangel

I think Cherie DeVille said it beautifully in a Holly Randall Unfiltered interview: 'Sex is sex, it's the setup that makes it interesting' and I could not agree with her more. The fact that we still get generic porn or porn by numbers with abused gimmicks is ridiculously off, especially given the circumstances. If you want people to pay top dollar for their porn, you need to give more 5 star scenes instead of boring ones. One thing that made Girlfriends Films and has led to the rise of PureTaboo and AllHerLuv is the understanding that while sex is sex; the seduction, the illicit scandalous nature of certain setups leads to increasing degrees of intensity and connection that take a scene to new heights. One of the reasons I rarely get into alot of BG scenes is the mechanical nature of the sex that occurs. Give me something that feels raw or refined yet so painfully sensual that I almost struggle not to blow my load early in the first ten minutes. Add a degree of intimacy or reluctance maintained throughout a scene until the orgasms hit and that just absolutely rocks. I think signature porn scenes go far further than the mass produced junk. judging by the complaints about Brazzers - I feel safe in saying I am not alone in this.
I also started watching porn in the late 70s. Lately, I've used OF to let me virtually return to the days when I was a front-row guy in Times Square. But even having getting girls to make customs where I relive those days has gotten boring to me.
Honestly, find some OF stars that you like and support them through their channel (also Fansly, Manyvids etc..).
Some of the scenes are really good. I don't care for the 'iPhone on a tripod' style of amateur porn but some stars and amateurs are doing great work with partners that they have genuine chemistry with.
There have been dozens of changes throughout porn's history. From 8mm reeels to film, to video, to DVD, to websites..and now to the hosting sites.
Great porn is still being made, it's just not where you're looking.
I mean there's been fifty years or more of this stuff. Tens of thousands of people copulated on film for your perverted enjoyment. Enough cum was spent to fill a minor great lake, trillions of sperm were surprised to find themselves deposited into the strangest and most feculent of orifices. Tens of women had real orgasms in their scenes! Porno princesses sucked and fucked their way to the infamous top, bipolar sex fiends made enough money to finance their addictions, and sadly many died way before their time. RIP Haley Paige! Everything must end eventually and perhaps it is time for porn to go to that great obscene gangbang in the sky.
Not here to bash OF, I see how frowned upon here but I think it and TikTok have changed the appetite for porn. Less focus on production and long form work. I'm just not a huge fan of OF content because it looks bad, poor lighting and sound quality, limited camera range. That style being the most popular thing of the moment has to have downstream effects.
It's not that I think that your idea is bad so much as it's basically the equivalent of looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack because the sheer number of OF models is staggering. You then have to consider the huge amounts of money that will be wasted looking for those rare needles of greatness because all the content is behind a paywall. Let's not forget that many of the models OF account you would join would ultimately contain at best softcore to midcore content and this being a porn forum means that most porn fans would be disappointed.True but I would argue that except for the old 8mm and16mm early days of porn. Most of the rest required something that seems to be lacking in most modern porn. Passion and talent behind the camera. Today anyone with a smartphone can film themselves fucking or film others doing it and the results tend to be lackluster at best.
they can also lie about what they're selling. They always insinuate or explicitly state that there will be real bg content. Most girls are selling tit pics and short snippets of them masturbating or sucking a dildo.. It's not porn. If there is real content, it's super short and 720p. It's like social media and porn combined into one, deviant way to get men to spend empty their wallets by doubling down on instant gratification. The key for them is to never leave u satisfied with a purchase so that u impulsively buy more
