I do and I wonder why kind of amplifier is good enough to push this puppy. I went to a car stereo shop and the guy told me to get an amplifier with at least 400 rms.

What do you think? what are some good brand names and recommendation?

Anybody?

I'd probably get something like the Rockford Fosgate Punch P6001. Although it's rated at 300w RMS, that sub-woofer has dual 4 ohm voice coils. So, when wired in parallel, which is how you will likely wire it, it is a 2 ohm speaker. The P6001 is rated at 600w RMS at 2 ohm.

The L7 Solobaric 12" is rated to 750w RMS, so this isn't too much power.

One note, if you decide to go with a 2-channel amp and bridge it to 1 channel, make sure that it is still stable to 2 ohms. A 2-channel amp that is stable to 2 ohms is typically only stable to 4 ohms when it has been bridged. Since you're talking about a 2 ohm speaker, you're probably better off getting a 1-channel amp.

Please note, I haven't really kept up with car stereo stuff over the last 5 years or so. When I stopped paying attention, Rockford Fosgate made really good amps. I'm just assuming that they still do. They could have gone to shit since 2000 and I wouldn't know it. So, you should probably do some more investigating before you just go out and buy a Rockford Fosgate amp.
