It has a strong feature set, works well and has very low system requirements (486 with only 16MB of RAM). They didn't want to spend the money to get some Adobe utility to change Word files to *.pdf's. Very bright people, didn't want usage notes, ads, or any type of support materials where potential customers could find out how to use this new product.
