I read that Chasey Lain's episode a few months ago was her rock bottom. A story said she has been in rehab for the last three months. She said she does seven hours a day of counseling and has three months left. Damn, three months of rehab with three months to go and 7 hours of counseling a day? isn't that quite a bit for a stint of rehab?
thats not out of the norm, i was addicted to oxycotin for two years at age 16...i was in rehab for about three months for that which is actually considered a pretty quick recovery. substance abuse is usually linked to mental illness and people typically use drugs to feel numb from something else, therefore treating the disease is a different experience for everyone. while some people may conquer recovery their first attempt others spend years in and our of rehabs working on issues and plenty of people don't recover at all. i have been a heavy drug user myself since the age of 13...and now at age 23 it is something that i still struggle with..as i just had a four month heroin binge which included an overdose (less then a week ago) and before that a 2 year four times a week ecstasy habit. its a scary road and i hope Chasey recovers and finds happiness within herself sooner rather then later.
I had no idea it could be like that. So good for Chasey. Ive been a fan for a long time and never knew she had been having problems. Thus I was crushed when I saw that video clip. So I hope she recovers and conquers. She has a long life ahead of her.
Some folks can turn it around in rehab. A lot don't. Sobriety is a tough road, and not every one attains it. My own experience is in AA and even taking things day by proverbial day, surrounded by a supportive community of fellow ex users, it can be exceedingly difficult to stay sober. Kudos to Cassandra for being so upfront about her problems, and her own rehab. Best of luck to Chasey with her demons.
I'm not a hard drug addict and even I couldn't figure out the reasoning (other than being cheap) behind the insurance industry's insistence on 28 day rehabs. Heck, there is one religious-based (along with medical) rehab here that insists on a full year in their program before graduation. Years ago rehab was a full year everywhere, then the insurance companies fucked it up by being cheap. I don't know about pushing Christianity on addicts, but I do agree with them that rehab doesn't work if it isn't long enough and 28 days or even three months isn't long enough for many and the insistence on many treatment facilities to not include Methadone for opiate addicts is worse yet! Cassandra, I hope you get it together and get control of your drug addiction, even if it involves Methadone treatment (unfortunately that is the only treatment that usually works for Heroin/Opiate addiction due to a chemical imbalance that it causes). If I were you, I would find an outpatient Methadone treatment facility (inpatient would be better but few of those exist) and get the counseling and maintenance treatment you evidently need to get straight. The Methadone will block the physical craving while the counseling will help you deal with whatever problem caused the drug addiction. Many MMT facilities even open at 6:30 am so picking up your daily dose doesn't interfere with your (movie) shooting schedule. It is a lot of work, but you will thank yourself for doing it later in life! Good Luck Cassandra and Chasey!
