Anyone else annoyed by Anabolic's camera work?

ToneBone Member 176 Posts 8/07	Posted - Sep 11 2007 : 11:57AM I rented 2 of their titles recently: A2M #7 and Sweet Cheeks #8. Both of them are apparently filmed by someone with a bad case of ADD. Most scenes are 3somes, and the cameraman's MO seems to be to film them by focusing on only half of the action at any given time, switching frantically from one end to the other. Way to ruin some great scenes! If you like the bj action you got 5 seconds to enjoy it before the camera zooms down to the vagina/anal. But don't get too comfortable down there because he'll take you back to the oral before you can figure out which hole you're looking at. Time and time again this guy had the perfect medium shot capturing all the action, only for him to zoom needlessly on half of it. It's pretty damn frustrating when you start getting into something and end up getting pulled away from it by inept camera work. Ivan, or whoever else is responsible for this: Please stop this none-sense. You add nothing to the scene by limiting the viewer to only half of the action. No need to get all cute and fancy with it. Keep the medium shot and let the viewer decide whether they want to focus on the oral or vaginal/anal. I would have bought both of these dvds if they were filmed properly. [Link]

During the action I want to see what's going on, not just shot of genitals. I wish Anabolic would understand this! [Link]

Comparing Evil to anything else is like comparing a golf cart to a Mercedes. They're just the best pretty much hands down. [Link]

Evil, Elegant or JJ don't have any secret formulas. In both of the Anabolic titles I rented, the sex was just as good as anything I've seen from Elegant or JJ. The main difference was in the shooting. That's where they come up short. Having said that, no offense dude, but it seems like you're arguing just for the sake of argument. The quick movements back and forth from one thing to another are VERY frustrating. Also , I don't buy this excuse of "if you don't like it , don't buy it" crap. Yes...they are definately going to sell alot of movies , regardless , because there are often good parts in many movies...but if we would stick together a little more , pass the word along , and voice our discontent ...well maybe they would do something about fixing some of the production problems. Click to expand This argument would hold true in a world where the majority of porn is purchased by the informed consumer. I do not think this is how it works in the real world. The picture on the box cover sells, the names names on the box cover sell; how the porn really looks is unknown to most consumers until after the purchase. How most porn looks is not planed by the producers because it is not important to making the sale. What counts is that it has to be made quick and cheap. If the scenes are slower paced camera action is picked up. If the energy is good then the camera slows down. If you are interested in other stuff I have done just look back at my Extreme/Evolution titles it's slower paced and more story driven. Anabolic has their way of shooting which I had to conformed to from 3-ways (which I never shot before) to the camera action. I add my touches to the scenes with elaborate teases from lighting to camera and editing tricks (ie, split screens, lighting gags, cameras rigs, lighting cues, time lapse, editing tricks just to name a few) which many viewers and reviewers love and rave about. It's understandable about what you are saying. Which scenes did you have issues with and how can I help you as a customer enjoy it more? Through the whole library of Anabolic movies you picked two of mine (even though I did A2M #11) out of four I have done. Which I guess is either a compliment to me on your acquisitions or you are just trying to pick me apart. Either way I appreciate your patronage to my and Anabolic's product. Sweet Cheeks #8 was very successful critically and in distribution being of of the top Anabolic sellers, so was A2M #11. I am sorry they were not to your liking. I am constantly trying to improve in my adult and outside film making endeavors and any feed back good or bad is something to learn from. Click to expand Thanks for your response Ivan. I pretty much answered this question in my first post. Every scene that featured 3-way action was hampered by frantic camera movements. The constant switching from one end to the other, when a simple medium shot would have captured both perfectly, is the only problem. But it's a problem that by itself ruins the viewing experience. In fact I had to look up the credits to make sure I was addressing the right person. And again, I thought the rest of the technical aspects were fine. I particularly enjoyed the tease sequences. Kudos on that. Both titles would have been Must Buys for me if it wasn't for the constant back and forth zooming throughout the 3-way scenes. I don't know if this is your style or Anabolic's, but I strongly recommend against it as it does nothing but frustrate the viewer. Thanks again. [Link]

Actually those being my first Anabolic releases I tried to do the Anabolic style with Sweet Cheeks sometimes going a bit crazy. I enjoy shooting both styles slow and fast but am always curious to what people enjoy. For me just a simple shot of a pretty girl is enough, for some they want more. And I agree the scenes with more people need wider-longer-lasting shots. Rosario, yup I did Texas Asshole Massacre and Dawn of the Head. Texas being my pride and joy for many reeasons. I also started another comedy horror before leaving Evolution. But now Anablic is giving me free reign and I am starting up the horror/comedy series again! I am so anxious. BTW, our mainstream horror comedy recently won an award and is screening at Sacramento Horror Film Festival next month. BlackSix that scene is still sitting in my lap. The reviews for both movies have been great and so have the sales numbers. But as a filmmaker I learned that you can always learn and adapt. And bringing that mentality into adult helps, rather then get pissy and lash out, I rather take every opinion into consideration and go from there. It was so bad, I shut it off and haven't rented another in that line since. The only Anabolic dvds I've seen lately are the Oral Consumption series and the latest Nasty Girls and the camerawork in those is fine. [Link]
