Hi Guys

Have any of you had trouble playing recent Atomic DVDs? I've tried two copies of "Getting Straight" and one each of "A Body to Die For" and "Sex Trap". None of them would start properly. It was possible to go to the main menu and watch the special features, but it would lock up when I tried to play the main movie, either from the main menu or chapter selection. I've tried them on my region free cheapo Raite and my Pioneer portable with similar results. The Raite reports a parental error even though it is set to the maximum setting. It seems like Atomic is having trouble mastering its recent DVDs. I can successfully play Tail Spin, Dream Team, River Patrol and the more recent Hitchhiker. I am really disappointed about "Getting Straight", but I'm giving up on Atomic for now.

Has anyone else had a similar problem? If you have any of the three discs I can't play and they work for you, please tell me what player you have.

Thank you

I have a good number of Atomic DVDs, and I never had any problems with them. I have a Toshiba DVD player, though.

I haven't seen any of the movies you had probs with (they look like twinkie-fests). The most recent Atomic DVD I got was Feel the Fire, which was done after those you mentioned.

It's a bummer that you are having probs with their DVDs... they tend to put out the best stuff. Have you tried contacting them directly, (instead of the website you bought the DVD from)? If there really are some DVD players that are incompatible with some of their movies, they probably want to know.

Their website is www.atomicvideo.com

I would try sending an email to sam@atomicvideo.com

Hi Tintin,

I have both "A body to die for" and "Getting Straight" and they both play without a hitch on my DVD players. I own a Toshiba SD-2109 and a Toshiba SD-1600. The players are almost the same, but the 1600 will play VCDs also.

I also own the following Atomics: Trust Me, Billy 2000, The Hitchhiker, Trying it on for size, Cuffed, Rawhide, Czech Point, Mavericks, Tailspin, Dream Team and Grease Guns.
These DVDs also play perfectly on both of my players.

Maybe Atomic has encoded those discs a little differently from the rest of the Atomic line and your players are having a problem in figuring it out, but every Atomic I own and including the ones you mention that I have, play perfectly for me.

Hope this helps.
