I am repeatedly getting the following message in the left margin of the log in page where the menu for the Talk, Price Search, DVD Bargains, and DVD Reviews are listed when I use Firefox.
"error creating database connectionWe are sorry, the server encountered an error processing the page you requested. An error notification has been automatically generated and forwarded to the webmaster."
I had no problem logging in with IE7 though.

That's interesting!
I'm getting the same problem with Safari. I get that message going to adultdvdtalk.com then I just come to forum.adultdvdtalk.com instead.
I'll email Drew with an alert.

Same here also with Safari, I do get through by typing in "adultdvdtalk.com/forum" .

I also had this problem.
I just assumed Drew was updating or working on the servers.

I believe a server was down or having problems then because tagged images were missing and that is the typical result when that happens. It has nothing to do with Firefox itself.

I have all kinds of problems with Firefox (on a Mac) and this website. It's the only website that I have these problems with and I access multiple message boards systems. I'd say 1 out of every 5 clicks on a link "hang" for me forcing a page refresh to resolve. About 1 out of every 5 posts will hang and/or double-post (hence all the 'double post' edits) and I can generally count on at least 2-3 mandatory refreshes per session. I think it's a cache issue with Firefox and the (custom?) board software in play here.
I don't seem to have this issue with Firefox on my Windows box. Nor Safari (Mac) or IE7 (Windows) either. Just Firefox. It has improved since I upgraded to Firefox 3 on the Mac, but still persists.

For the last few days the forum and main site has been overwhelmed by search engine bots. For some reason Microsoft's search bots have appeared to "rediscover" ADT. We're seeing 3 - 5 requests per second over the past few days from Microsoft's various search indexing bots. Toss in our the typical user load of 100 - 250 active users, and the roughly 50k combined pages per day indexed by the Google and Yahoo search bots and we're seeing more server load than we've ever experienced. The worst times of day being when our automated backups are running which happens every 4 hours. I'm trying to figure out a better way to handle the load but it would involve extensive mods to our custom software.
